Re: ***WRUW Sunday 17/7***
1970 Caravelle Sea Hunter 666 devil diver. The seller liked the 1016 aesthetic and shipped with the original complete bezel assembly so I can alternate back and forth between different looks. As with vintage watches, putting 2 side by side can seem to be two very different watches. With this one I ...

Re: Novak wins Wimbledon 2022
Novak was really on his game today, almost flawless! Kyrgios has some amazing talent, but he's a serious head case... needs some anger management :smack:  Agree on both your points about Nick, and until he figures it out, he will never win a major. I just don't know if he cares enough...

Hard to argue he’s not pretty much the GOAT, although I’ll always be partial to Rafa and Roger.

I think I actually prefer the BB58 bracelet, but I need that new clasp for mine.

Re: New Ranger
pic on reddit It doesn’t compare well against the Rolex IMO. I was actually really excited about this watch until I saw that pic. Dammit. Me too. Guess I’m back to pining for the one Rolex I want, which I likely can’t buy. I bet Rolex prices will drop soon. I’ve seen a slightly used 36mm explorer f...

Agree. I liked the 2014 Ranger reissue, but this one just looks better and truer to the original to me. Great movement, and really nice bracelet and clasp, too. Rapidly turning into a must-have for me.

Yeah this might replace the Exp 1 I’ve been toying with getting once prices become reasonable again. Very excited for this one.

Wow, very scary accident. Glad you're OK!
At some point, would love to hear your impressions comparing the U1P to the U50P.

Re: Marinemaster. . . The first Seiko that will stick
Yeah I paid around $1600 for my lightly used SBDX017. While I like my BB58 more, it was more than twice the price. Hard for me to argue against the BB58, as I am absolutely hugely in love with that watch and will likely pick up a blue 58 or a 58 GMT if they ever make one to go with my gilt version. ...

Re: What’s your Grail and your dream Grail?
Grail in my collection is my 16600. First good watch and still the best watch I’ve ever bought (and I’ve bought a few).
Ultimate grail would probably be a big crown Sub.

Tudor FXD & straps
I was surprised that the FXD wore much like a regular Pelagos when I tried it on. These wear bigger than a U1 to me, which is about the biggest I want to go at this point. I’m waiting for a 40-41 mm version, which will most likely never happen.

It’s such a good watch, especially without the Prospex logo. Slightly too heavy and too thick, but other than that just blows away every other dive watch at its price point.

That FXD is awesome. And I’ve been digging the maratac Ti straps on my U1P—look great and they are priced right. I think I’ll pick up the green PDW Ti nato as well.

Re: Staining/discoloration on sapphire crystal?
Thanks for the toothpaste recommendation! I'll give that a try. I had tried Dawn dish soap previously with no luck. Emailed Paul and he confirmed that the MS21 doesn't have an outer AR coating, so it's likely something just cooked onto the crystal. I might try a 50:50 distilled water: white vinegar...

Not sure I care about or want Rolex anymore. The utter stupidity around that brand the last few years has really soured me.

Re: The watches in Top Gun: Maverick
No CGI or green screens is a pretty amazing accomplishment in modern movies of this type. The cockpit shots are the actors in actual flight.
