It's obviously not right, and only you can decide if sending it back is the correct call.

I don't mean send it back for a refund I mean to get it relumed or I guess they could put in a new dial. I see your point it is picky but it's a very expensive watch and it should be perfect, IMO.

I just didn't want to send it back if it is supposed to have this variation in lume.

Didn't I read this exact issue somewhere else? Or is the same watch same owner?

I know I don't "get" Bremont, but can you explain why poorly applied lume would possibly be intentional, when the watch in the OP has normal lume?

Well, I love it. Sorry I couldn't pick up Matt's on the rebound.

I would write Mike Pearson and send him a pic. I'm confident it's not supposed to look like that and he'll be all over getting it right for you. Michael@bremont.com

A Week With the Bremont Terra Nova

By the way mjm, it's protocol around here to start a thread introducing yourself and posting some watch pics. This is a great forum but not got the thin skinned; you may catch some hell if you don't intro yourself soon.

Yeah, I gotcha. Send it for new dial or re-lume.

Thanks for the review. The Terra Nova is awesome...but then I am a big fan of the S500.

Responding to your point re lumed seconds hands on a dive watch; it is listed as part of the ISO but serves no real world purpose on a dive watch IMO. You would not enter a low-light environment without a torch (and a back up light). I have never had a single situation where I had insufficient light to read the watch dial and didn't have a torch in the other hand. It just wouldn't happen.

On the other hand a poorly or only partially indexed bezel is a much bigger annoyance. So many dive watches are given a pass on that far more important key dive watch function.

Blast from the past! Hey guys!

I've actually been giving this watch some serious thought. I know the brand is totally fucked with the founders kicked out after the PE buyout but I can't help but feel like this is still a Great Watch.

I am comparing it though to the new Tudor Black Bay Pro as well and some other ones, just think these Bremonts are now incredible value. It's no wonder they lost so much money, the casework is just so dang nice.

The only complaint I had on my previous S500 was that it was a fucking chore to wear sometimes in the summer even with the rubber band because it was so heavy. And on me, the height did mean quite a few dings against stuff because I be clumsy and the watch so tall.

“My, how the brand has changed” is something I hear at least once a week at the shop when folks that fondly remember Bremont as forum sweethearts are looking at the new display.

The Terra Nova of before doesn’t look like the current iteration but it’s the piece still keeping the brand alive IMO. We have some old stock left but the new stuff, while different than the old, is very well built.

Happy to answer any of your questions, as a Bremont AD.

Edit: buy the Tudor, always.

Sup dude!

Terra Nova and P-51 were my favorites from the early Bremont days. I'd definitely consider rebuying either. The other one that I liked, which is basically Terra Nova in a slightly different aesthetic, was the Bremont Endurance. The titanium case is super comfortable to wear, so way different than your S500.

All that said, would I take a Terra Nova over a Black Bay Pro?

Hell no.

Modern Tudor, for the most part, represent some of the best value in watches right now. 1000000% you should take a BB Pro. Then if you want another watch, buy the Terra Nova.

Sup Matt!

Yeah, I think you're right, I do like that the Terra Nova is actually mag resistant and I think has a mil gauss rating as well. The bezel is also bidirectional which is appealing. It is a THICK BOY tho.

The only problem I have with Tudor, is that it always felt like Rolex Jr. I love the new panda dial black bay Chrono too and it has an amazing Breitling movement in it. I guess the other problem I have with Tudor is that the left side of their case is usually just a flat featureless glossy slab. Feels a little plain. Incredible value and build I'm sure.

I agree with Matt, had a blue S500, but if I compared it to the 58 I had and the BB Pro, the Tudors are better value. Agree that the side profile of the Bremont is far more interesting than the “Tudor side slab”, but package vs. package, I kept the Tudors.

I will say that lately I have been trying to track down an S302, which is a caller GMT instead of a traveller (real) GMT like the BB Pro.

My S500 was a good looking watch though:

Welp, looks like the Terra Nova I was looking at sold, it was offered at $2,500 which was pretty killer, just serviced and full box and papers.

Anyway, I picked up one of these instead and a JLC complicated dress watch to restart my collection. And oh a Baltic Aquascaphe, shit looks dope.
