Seiko MarineMaster 300 vs Omega Seamaster 200

Post by CesarG » Fri Sep 02, 2011 8:09 pm

Ok, I'll admit, I suck at watch reviews, but I can take half-decent pictures. So... since Terry was dumb enough to loan me his watch ( ) I'll take a few shots just for DWC entertainment... 1st installment........................ LUME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! more to come... in like days or so, I'm a new dad... you guys know the deal. Besides, I had like 20 pictures and my stupid memory card didn't record them, so I have to re-shoot. :cussing:

My review on lume:

Well... everyone knows Omega has out of this world lume... and everyone knows Seiko has out of this world lume. They're both extremely bright throughout the night and both are easily legible during those midnight feeding sessions.

Omega Pro: Minute hand/Hour hand size ratio is great. Easy to tell the difference. And of course the LUMED BEZEL :headbang:
Omega Con: No obvious 12 o'clock marker (other than the bezel)... and 3 o'clock, 6, and 9

Seiko Pro: The 12, 6, 9 markers stand out. And HUGE pip on the bezel
Seiko Con: no lumed bezel? The size of the hands bothers some... well, maybe just Wu but they are similarly sized but in use, they work...

anyway... on to the picture... yes, just one :neener:

P.S. (ala Adam) I may never get to another installment, so :bird:

I'm impressed with the SHOM lume. What year was that SHOM made?
I never realized it had a lumed bezel too. NICE!

I like both set of hands.
SHOM is cool, MM is sexy!

Look forward to more of this potential review.
If it stops here.
Seiko wins. haha.

My SHOM's movement dates to '79 but of course, everything is modern SuperLuminova that's why it's so bright. I'll definitely try and give my opinions but I like 'em both so my guess is..... no winner!

As played out as they are (in no fault of Omega's), I love Ploprof hands.

Both are great watches. There are quite a few things I would change on the MM300, but it's still an excellent watch.
:htfu:

I've always given the slight-a 1/2 tnuc hair mind you-edge to Omega in the lume dept. Its never disappointed me.

Sorry folks, no new photos. My memory card seems to be taking a dump and I can't find any of the photos I took. Also, the lease is over... it's going back for some touch ups. So... 'til next TIME!!

The MM is a groovy diver, no question. It does have a better lume set up with the different indices at 12, 6, 9.

But that SHOM is in a league by itself. Ultra, three fro :fro: :fro: :fro: cool.
