Major Suckage

Post by Tragic » Sun Sep 11, 2011 3:30 pm

So I did a trade last week, my UTS/Blue for Chris' (Shorty variety) DC67, got the watch tuesday.
Wonderful deal, great watch.....broke it today.
I worked today, ( that's double-time for all you desk jockeys), was leaving at 12:30, kind of in a hurry I guess to get home and start the annual Bengals death watch, and the Damasko fell from the top of my locker.
Watched it all the way down, kind of in slow motion.
It natch landed squarely on the crystal, concrete, *splat*.
On picking it up I was SO relieved to see it still running and crystal in one piece, lucked out!
Stopped on the way home to get gas and it dawned on me to check the chrono function.
Click and off it went, looked fine.
Let it run a minute to see the minutes timer work, fine also.
Now just stop and re-set annnnnnnnddddd....no dice.
It's now a perpetual chronograph I guess.
So I managed to bust a fine watch I've long wanted in less than a week.
I've got a competent watch guy I use here in town so I'm sure he'll fix it but needless to say, I'm bummed.
On the bright side, the Bungles actually won, on the road and our rookie QB actually looked really sharp!
Of course he hurt his wrist...... :raised:

OUCH! That does suck, John. At least you have someone in town that can work on it. I can't even get someone local here in Louisville to run my Eterna through a gd demag. Simple enough, but they say "oh it doesn't need to be demag'd" without ever actually having SEEN it or realized that it's gaining an hour every hour. :raised: Hope your issue is a quick and relatively cheap fix.

 ooooooooo

For what it's worth....I knocked the recent Searambler onto the tile floor in the bathroom this morning...luckily, I only knocked a couple of "floaters" loose...two black flecks from something, one on the dial and one on the backside of the crystal.

best of luck on the repair!

Oh my god what did you do to my watch?! That sucks ass. How did the case hold up? Any scratches?

It couldn't have landed more squarely on the crystal Chris, so no scratches.
Wouldn't have scratched anyway, it's a Damasko damnit.

That totally bites. However, the good news is you've got a guy who can fix it it, and dammit, it's a Damasko, so the case is still pristine.

Plus sides of a non-in-house movement

Glad the watch is largely okay.

well hopefully it is just something minor that happened to it.

shit a few weeks ago I was loading some equipment into our work truck and my Marcello got hung up on something to the point that it bent a spring bar and the watch land crystal down on the concrete. luckily it didn't do anything at all, shit if it was a sub-steel watch I would probably have to pay to have the road repaved.
