Another Seiko Testimonial

Post by namor » Mon Jul 23, 2012 9:09 am

I really love Seiko dive watches. The affair began in 1979, when I bought a 6159-7010 to dive with while stationed overseas. I've owned many since, and rarely been disappointed by any. However, I like to be able to set the second hand, making the venerable 6309s and 7S26s a moot choice for me.

Well, I picked up a 6306 recently for a song, mostly because it had been highly modified (horrifying most of the vintage Seiko buying public!), and couldn't be happier. This watch has gained 4 seconds in three days of constant wear vs NIST. Yes, it has aftermarket hands, dial, sapphire crystal, and faux PO bezel insert...but she ticks over at a sedate 21,600 bph without a problem. And it hacks!

Its not a classic, but its performance is classic Seiko!

Love the 6306. I got lucky and found one that Jack at IWW had restored, relumed, serviced and regulated and only modified by adding a sapphire crystal. At least you got the hacking 6306 running it. ;) Nice snag and congrats!

Namor, this is NICE ! :) ..Congratulations on picking it up !!! What
is so AWESOME is that you have that Seiko reliability, but now it
is in this unique package here. The new bezel, hands, crystal etc.
genuinely make this one like a one of a kind now. You aren't going
to see this same watch on someone any time soon, so that's nice.
Plus it's just a great looking watch ! Keep enjoying !!!

Time to turn it into a Real Seiko and not a wannabe Omega.... You'll love it even more
