Apparently Helmut Sinn hasn't been actively involved in the company since 2006 and the current managing director is retiring. Not sure why they didn't sell the company to someone else.

This is the watch company that Helmut Sinn founded after leaving Sinn.

They had some nice watches. I had one that was really close to a 103

That's too bad, but it never seemed like there was much effort put into the brand (at least in the US).

At a time when there are dozens and dozens of micros out there, it seems tough to stand out.

Some one from the auricoste watch co and was pitching the copy of the French issued diver was not well received here if I remember. The weird thing was the vintage issued one was 4-5 hundred cheaper vintage some time cheaper and cooler than remakes of the old but the Guinand chronograph stood out still close to some of the others. Been thinking of adding another issued Bund to the collection ether a Junghans or Hanhart both vintage 1950's era German issue since WW2 era ones are sort of out of my price range and sooner or later the 1950 era ones will be I remember the WW2 Hanharts were a lot cheaper when I first started collecting.

Other than looking like Sinn's what does dodane have to do with Guinnand? Sorry I feel like I'm missing something.

Mike said he liked the style of the Guinand shown at the link he posted. The Dodane has a similar style. No real relationship other than that.

Guinands are cool but never really got off the ground. I've always wanted a Dodane.

The doors are being re-opened.

Thankfully, at Baselworld 2015, we learned Guinand was purchased and would remain open under new management. We’d love to hear Herr Sinn is returning to the watch industry, but this is the next best thing; plus, he’s probably earned a retirement by now.

At the moment, the website is, well, scheisse, but that will likely change in the near future. If you’re interested in one of their watches, they’re very much available through email communication while the website is re-tooled. Expect to see a fully re-launched effort both via web and actual corporate offices sometime this year (we’re getting more info on this at the moment).

I'm hoping it was Zack. He could call the brand Jinn, but stylize the "J" all script-like and it would almost look like Sinn.
