I wore a SubC for two years, and always felt a little awkward meeting with clients. My clients aren't Rolex types.
This is a niche the black BB, and the Pelagos to some extent fills. I came really close to picking up Namor's no date sub he had posted recently. In the end I decided I didn't think I could do a sub as my daily watch. Potential for awkwardness around clients held me back. With my clientele here in the flyover states (hospital administrators) a Rolex is the one watch brand that stands out and you rarely see them. Nobody gives the Pelagos a second look with its flat/matte surfaces.

I got to play with the Black Bay One last night:

(It doesn't suck.)

However, given that it's estimated to go for over six figures at auction, I'll "settle" for this:

;)

But seriously, the new BBB is an absolutely cracking watch. Love it.

Adam

PS - I also arranged to have a Tempus Machina 216A on hand for comparison purposes:

Interesting...

Also kill the multicolor strap, then give this a slim case and proceed to sell truckloads of them :)

The one is great but I'll settle for the Black BB on the Ranger straight lug bracelet. The second one goes for $3k pre-owned I'm gonna jump.

Thanks for the great pics AC - you lucky dog you...

That was fast. Great deal, too, considering the piece was just released and is the current darling of the WIS world.

Someone's gonna get lucky here.

As nice as the BBB is (and it's really nice, and I'll probably own one even though I need another black Sub-type watch like I need a hole in my head), what I really want is the Tempus Machina. Ludicrously priced, but they did everything right on it in recreating a gilt Submariner-including a true gilt dial. I also absolutely love the real Rolex big crown. The BBB crown just isn't the same, and I really dislike the aluminum ring (although it looks less noticeable on the Black based on the pictures I've seen).

Yeah but for $20k I'll be happy with the BBB as a consolation prize ;)

I really like the aluminum ring on the red BB. Something about it made it special, with the red bezel insert. Nice touch of modern. On the Black version it doesn't have the same impact. Looks like a shadow - like the crown is not all the way shut. If they made it silver anodized on the black it would have a better impact.

I agree. The crown tube is silver on my Ranger and it looks great.

I just received my new BBRed from Petre and it looks great.
