^+1 Explorer II is a winner. Get the Momentum or something else for $200 to tide you over.

White dial Explorer II sounds great. You're not far off with a budget of $2k.

I can very much respect not wanting $4k tied up in a watch. How about a white/silver-dialed Tudor Hydronaut? Right at your $2k price.

The Hydronaut's range in price. I've seen them on ebay as low as $1300 (on strap) and usually in the $1700-1900 range on bracelet. The one pictured is about $2100 if I recall.

The shit's plenty real. We found out we were being relocated 5 weeks ago. My wife has moved already and has started a new gig. Me and the kid will gone from VA in 4 weeks. I sold a house AND bought a house on Tuesday. Literally.

Plenty real shit!

Explorer II in white is sweet. If only it didn't feel like I was wearing a paper thin Movado I might have bought one yesterday out of pure stupidity.

I didn't.

It just doesn't seem like something you'd keep. They are cool, no doubt, but it does seem a major shift from your usual. That's all I'm saying.
