I think everyone in NY is safe, but some DWCers have had property damage. Power may be out for a week.

Thanks for the update.

Sorry to hear about what happened, Pat.

Terrible to see so many homes suffer from the flooding.

Count me in for help.

Let's not make this political guys and gals. The President showing up-whether you like him or not-is important to a lot of people.

After getting "wood" from Irene and Señor Derecho, I thought for sure we were getting some again last night - especially considering the ferocity of the wind. We finally made it through a weather event without being a topic of conversation. Really feeling for you guys who took hits, especially your situation, Pat. Really sucks. My best to you guys.. .

Still alive here. I still have no power or phone service. cell service is out too. Amazingly I have 4G if i sit in the car in front of the house. I can't even send a text message. My house came away relatively unscathed so I am thankful for that. I spent the day cleaning up the mess and scavenging local stores for ice. Hopefully we will be back to normal tomorrow or the next day. My kids have been awesome but the wife is on the verge of a nervous breakdown. Pat and Barry fared much worse than I did on this one. I hope you guys are ok.

Thinking of you guys. We have an office in Parsippany and haven't heard from most of the people there, it's good to hear from some of the folks here that you are ok. I hope you get power back soon and that the cleanup won't be too bad.

I think you are getting a slanted view from a website that has a certain editorial leaning. Sure there will always be some idiots but generally it appears most New Yorkers are better than that.

I made a looting status update but as a joke. I'm sure a lot of people did the same.

I'm still lights out, relying on my backup batteries for iPad, Radio, and cell charging. Tethering on LTE through Verizon.

This is what we're dealing with. (from reddit)

Hey Guys,

Just want to check in. We are all safe. It has been tough here. My basement was completed submerged in sewage and saltwater. It stopped 2steps from my first floor. It was six to 7 feet deep in the street with a rough current going down my block. I lost two cars. Power could be out another 3 to 4 weeks. We had no water or sewers for days. The day after Sandy I rode my bicycle to work as we deliver fuel to government agencies. I have worked 18 hour days. Giovanni was great during the storm and after. We finally sent him to his aunts house upsate NY. I miss him terribly. If they don't open schools soon. we might enroll him in his cousins class up there. Though that would kill me.

Today was the first day off and We got to clean up my basement. Lucky us. There is a 6PM to 6AM curfew in our city. I have been able to Come and go with my ID's. the cops have been great. A lot of relief efforts and help rolling in. I have tapped a lot of resources for generators, laborers and tomorrow an electrician to start the repairs. My company has sent down a crew to help people at home while we are working and a ton of supplies, food and water. Friends and family have been great. Thanks to the DWCers that have reached out to me. It really means a lot. I am on my iPad on 3G. This is the first night i have a signal strong enough I hope this post goes through. The cell service has been horrible at best in these parts. I will try and touch base soon.
Regards
Barry
