My First JLC - Reverso TTR 1931 US Edition

Post by giosdad » Sat Sep 10, 2011 4:39 am

I have always admired Reverso's and with most of my collection being dive watches, I have always wanted a watch I could consider my dress watch.

When I first saw this Reverso model announced I fell in love. I let some time pass until it was brought up by Adam and decided I needed to act. A call to Adam and then to Seth and Jim at JLC BH and I was on the list and hopeful for a call that I would receive one. A few days before my Birthday a little over a couple of weeks ago my call came. Unfortuately also scheduled to arrive on my birthday was Hurricane Irene. (I will post pictures of what Irene did to Long Beach later) Living on a barrier Island to Nassau County in the Atlantic Ocean my family and home took precedence over a watch (I hope my dear wife took note) and I let the Reverso stay in the watchful hands of Seth and Jim and not end up stuck somewhere in Fed Ex land or delivered to a home in shambles.

Irene came and went, though we had some flooding and no power for a few days we (personally) fared much better than expected. I called Jim when I knew I would be home to receive it and the rest is history. I have to mention that the purchase experience from JLC BH was exceptional many thanks especially to Jim who handled a great deal of my transaction. As far as the watch. It is everything I had hoped it would be. It is a classic design that wears well on my wrist. It has has enough presence due to the length of the case for a wrist though only 6 1/2 inches is used to wearing dive watches. It exudes the quality and fit and finish you expect from JLC. The Casa Fagliano strap is a perfect compliment to give this watch a sportier bespoke look and a versatility to wear it on many occasions. The gator strap will be perfect to dress it up a notch. One of the things that makes this more special to me is the heritage of the Reverso and the way it....well..... plays "tribute" to the original and has such a fantastic story to tell every time somebody asks about it.

What's on the reverse?

I can appreciate a fine dress watch.... but the line was designed as a tougher sport watch for polo playing rich kids.

It is dressy tho.... congratulations.

looks great, Barry. I am/was concerned about the size, but your wrist shots put it into good perspective and looks fantastic proportionally.

Fantastic watch - and glad things worked out all around between the Hurricane and the watch logistics etc.

I look forward to seeing it in person at Red Bar one night soon.

Enjoy and have a great weekend...

Busy morning with all these new pieces. I should start a generic Congrats on the pickup thread.

Beautiful watch. Truly a classic that most every collection should have (that and the nubeo of course, which puts your JLC to shame, btw :bs: ). Looking forward to seeing that one in person.

Cheers!
No thanks, I'm trying to cut down

You already know how I feel about this one, Barry. ;-)

What can I say, you scored a classic, and what is perhaps the most well received watch of 2011. It represents the true essence of JLC, and is as close to a forever watch as they come, IMO.

Congrats, buddy, you wear it well.

Regards,
Adam
