Some travel pics from Seoul

Post by Dedalus » Sun Nov 20, 2011 8:32 pm

A few happy snaps for anyone interested, from our recent trip to Seoul. (Sorry, not much watch content  )

The main reason for the trip was to take care of some legal matters, and meet family(quite a formal affair). For this reason, our time in Seoul was quite hectic and only a few photos to share. Tokyo was more fun, and my partner (half Korean/half Japanese) is closer to her Japanese relatives, so our time there was decidedly more relaxed and less formal. Tokyo photos to follow...

We stayed in Chamjil (Seoul) in one of Korea's many 'love hotels', surrounded by seedy joints and strip clubs. :excited:

The whole area was lively at night. Lit up like a Christmas tree...

Never been, always heard great things about Seoul.
Would love to visit some day.
Looks similar to other Asian cities.
Any exotic food shots?

:fro:

There were seafood restaurants everywhere Dave, all with their tanks outside the front for your perusal.
The squid shot was one of the few I took, though I did also take this shot in Seoul, street-seller with a range of dried seafood and veg...

There were also several restaurants in Seoul cooking up a storm with offal, intestines, etc. :puke:
Made the place smell great.

We did eat at a tuna (specialist) sashimi restaurant one night in Seoul. No photos unfortunately as I didn't realise there would be photo ops at dinner.

Anyway, this meal consisted of each 'cut' of the tuna being presented to you throughout the evening. Imagine tuna cuts the same way you would beef cuts. That's what it was like. And every cut had a slightly different taste, and wildly different textures.

Some cuts were presented laced with 24ct gold leaf.

And in Tokyo, the sushi chef at the restaurant we had a family dinner at, killed each fish with a 'karate chop' to the head. :boxing:

kim bob, yaki mandu , mandoo, bulgogi, bibimbap, ramyeon and makguksu are some of my favorite dishes in Korea. but I lived south of Seoul in a town called An-Jeong Ri.

I had some good times there and spent a many of nights in the Soju tents drinking and eating. but pick you up some Hite beer or OB if you want to get your grove on.

have good time and keep the pics coming.
