Heuer Siffert Restoration- Part 1 & Part 2 - Update

Post by dshap » Tue May 01, 2012 7:43 pm

My Heuer manual Siffert is at the spa in Belgium being serviced by the Heuer master. When I got it, the case had the sides brushed (they should be polished) and there were scratches and some micro dings, and it just generally looked a little to worn. I think "patina" looks better on some watches than others, and I don't like it on Heuers.

Look at what an incredible job he did on the case. When was the last time you saw someone re-sharpen the lines on a watch rather than softening it up by refinishing it?

Here's the dial. I think the hands have already been relumed, so I'll re-do them again to make them a bit nicer. I'll leave the dial lume alone because it's original.

That case looks awesome. Can you tell us what the ballpark cost for this is?, and how did you go about getting this done in Belgium; was it just organised through a LVMH service center?

It cost 180 euro. It's a private guy, not Tag.

I'll tell who it is when I get all my stuff done. I don't want to get him too busy ;)

Cool, was that for just the case work?, or is that servicing also?
