Definitely surprised but instead of posting the issue why not just call Stephen Neuman; he's a very reasonable guy..

Man. This sucks. It took me a second to find it because I was combing the underside of the crystal for lint. Then it hit me.
Stephen at UTS USA told me that Spinner hates opening cases and really doesn't like working on the watches he makes. He really only enjoys the art of making them..servicing not so much.
That is why you encounter so much push back from him regarding mods. He wouldn't even sell me or source me a new bezel for one of my old UTS's. I hate to say it, but attitudes like this are garbage. If he hates working on watches so much, then maybe he needs to find another business. Being a small brand, this attitude is intolerable.

Stephen has no control over Spinner's policies and practices. I spoke to him a while back regarding one of my UTS's and actually felt sorry for the guy. He left me with the impression that he is basically at Spinner's mercy with respect to the operation and doesn't get much say in anything. Plus, I think this was a UK buyer, not a US buyer.

I had a similarly minor issue with a Halios several years back that I had owned for over a year. Jason wanted to replace ithe entire watch no questions asked even though i only asked for a replacement part. Looks like Spinner is well dug in with regards to his position. UTS has always been on my "someday" list. Too bad.

This is disappointing to hear about one of my favorite brands.

I'm always leery to jump on the band wagon. Two sides, and I am never sure if everything is shared.

I wouldn't let this put me off.

Had a UTS and I noticed a small smudge on the dial, 99.5% of people would not notice but I did and it drove me nuts. Its was only at a certain angle.Returned it to the seller.
Nice watch but for the $ I could not deal with a smudge

Regardless of brand, that strikes me as both poor customer service, and poor judgement on Spinner's part.

Thanks Rob, didn't know that about the relationship between Spinner and Neuman...if that's the case then that's pure BS...Would have thought the guy had some pride in the work he does...makes you think twice about buying...

I assume the thread will make its way to WuS,TZ and all the other watch forums.
UTS had better be aware how such threads can cause immense damage to the company.
No one would be happy with that bent hand. Maybe and its a big maybe, someone may not notice the bend specially if you happen to be crosseyed  but once noticed, its going to drive you crazy.
Totally unacceptable response by UTS anyway and its clearly :bs:
Still,...........dont mention the war.

That was the same feeling I came up with. I spoke with him for about 2 hrs that day...mostly about BS, but some stuff about the brand, Spinner, marketing arrangements, the old days of WUS sponsorship and the future of the company. Stephen eluded to the fact that he might not seek to be the US source for UTS in the future since it can be a difficult working arrangement. He also told me that new designs that vary from current UTS projects are unlikely because Spinner has no interest. I came off with the impression that Spinner is kind of arrogant and a difficult business partner. Stephen on the other hand is a class act...I actually welcomed him to DWC, but I think he has enough on his plate already.

Contrast this with my experience with Graeme and SAS. My first Sea-01, which I bought used, had a tiny scratch on the polished seconds hand. Graeme sent me a Fedex label and had the watch back to me from Ireland in 7 days. I love the watches anyway but his CS earned him a customer for life. Every time I have asked UTS for something the answer has been no, which makes me hesitant to buy another.

+1 on the Graeme experience. First Class!

Man that is just not right.

Again you never know the whole story when being told from one side, but if what that guy posted is true, that is COMPLETELY unacceptable .
I've never seen a chrono second hand bent, and never heard they would all be like that.
Sounds like Spinner just didn't want to reopen the case and bother with it.
If their CS and repairs are like that, they will never see a dime of my money.

Indeed allowing that we are just getting reports from one side, the customer did mention somewhere in the thread that the hand was fine when he sent the watch in, implying that it was bent in servicing. All we've got from the other side is posted email replies, but if they are indeed Spinner's actual responses, then he has effectively committed the watchmaker's version of cock-punching an Octopus in Puget sound.

I think Mr. Spinner's explanation makes a lot of sense....but the pictures tell a very different story. Very disappointing. I would request that Mr. Spinner install a new second hand, the one with the triangle at the tip as on the later chronos. Once that was installed any bending would be glaringly apparent.

An Old Indian Idiom : ' To Axe One's Own Foot ' seems like the right fit here. An overpriced yet exclusive product now coupled with a depressive CS is like a recipe for impending disaster.

Another One : ' Vinaashkale, Vipreet Buddhi ' Literally means during the time of our destruction, we go against our intelligence.

If true, this totally sucks.

At least I know where not to send my UTS for service.
