What are your horological plans for 2013?

Post by fastward » Tue Jan 01, 2013 9:14 am

I think that there was a 2013 thread, but I cannot find it, so here's another.

So what are your watch plans for 2013?
For me, the plans are to pick up one, possibly two this year and hold onto to what I have. The Seiko Solar Chrono may leave, but the Sinns will stay.
We just refinanced down to a 12 year mortgage, so between that and the taxes cuts, this should be a low key year.

I'm looking at picking up a Sarb, like the Kemmner Tonneau and still would like to pick up a Sinn 103.

What are you fools thinking about this year?

The collection is down to a very manageable 5 pieces....I'm very happy with what I have. At this point looking to add one, once I get that all important bonus number in a month.

Probably something from one of the following brands:

* IWC (Chrono AT, Classic Pilot)
* Panerai (25 or 312)
* Bremont (Supermarine)
* Sinn (UX or U1000)

:cheers:

Had said a Damasko DA36 and a Doxa 1200t but I received the Doxa last week and the DA36 should be here in the next couple of days. Not sure what 2013 will bring. Maybe a Tsunami or Typhoon.

2013 will likely belong to my first IWC [ BP/BI ], a second PAM [424/425/372/389] and a highly unlikely first AP [ ROO Diver ] .. ;)

I need to put some thought into consolidating a bit. I had a 10 watch limit and am now at about 15. May go the route of selling and upgrading.

I think the Nivada Grenchen and the Auricoste are going to be the first two to go on the block. They just don't get worn enough.

Love my 1675 GMT but would love to upgrade to nice gilt, so that may also go on the block. We'll see.

Pay off the Omega Vintage Ninjas from Bienne, when that one comes home to roost (it is going to be painful).

Get one of either a Doxa 600 / 1200 or a TAG-Heuer Monaco. Naw, probably both. And a SAS, for sure. Got to get a SAS ... Matt :tap:

That's about it for now.

The Daytona will be a much longer term thing. As will the PAM104 ... unless Gordo takes pity on me and offers up a great deal on his ...

Hexa (bead blasted) coming at some point in January...but 2013 will be defined by getting a Daytona...question is how much I have to part with to get it...

If it's a good year, an IwC Big Pilot. If it's an average year perhaps a Galapagos or a 114060. Time will tell. I'm sure there will be some low hanging fruit along the way, but I'm good at consolidation, so low hanging fruit if any will be a means to an end.
