More Bathyscaphe nonsense...

Steel: MSRP $10,500

Titanium: MSRP $12,000

As I inch ever-closer to throwing down my hard-earned clams on this watch, it's time to decide which version is going to find a home on my wrist and in my watch box. I've pretty much been Team Steel from day one, but the more I look, the more I'm liking the "ceramicized" titanium version. In particular, I'm digging the contrast between the darker hue of the case and the olive drab NATO and sailcloth straps. This notwithstanding, I'm still partial to the anthracite sunburst "Meteor" dial of the steel version, though, as well as the more pronounced brushing on the case.

Shorty's been clear from the beginning that the titanium version did nothing for him in person, but I dunno... It's growing on me.

Regards,
Adam

PS - It's worth mentioning that I intend to get all four straps, regardless of which version of the Bathyscaphe that I end up with (black and OD sailcoth, as well as both the black and OD NATOs).

I'm liking the Ti based on these pictures but I haven't seen it in person yet.

I have not seen either version IRL, but based on the pictures steel wins. The ti looks like plastic in the pictures. I've owned Ti watches and this one just looks "off", plus steel has the supremely cooler dial.

The Ti looks and feels like plastic IRL, and I usually like Ti.

I really don't get it either  . Like I said in another post, most of the haters have never even seen one.

I'd have to go steel. I like Ti, but just something about this one in S.S.

I voted ti, which has been my favorite from day one, but the steel is becoming a very close second. I'm really liking the brushing on the steel. I need to try them on. This is a decision I hope to have to make myself at some point, this watch is keeping me up at night.

The hardware on the NATO has to be worth a grand. I'd go Ti.
"30ish years of martial arts and I've actually had the honor of training lots of LEO, spec ops and even SEAL team 6 on base, fitness training, not martial arts, but still the coolest thing I've done.

Full on egg head corporate job and I fly quite a bit so I'm really looking forward to adding to my collection of TSA friendly self defense tools. I have amcouple tactical pens, but I want to up the game and get into some custom stuff. Been watch obsessed for a while but this seems more fun.

Thanks for letting me play! "

Steel for sure, Price difference let's be honest plays a role and I think TI is a little dark-ish for me, solely judging by pictures, if it's like Pelagos then I'm okay with its shade of gray.
Too bad Nato is not available on a steel version yet, was told in a few months, because i have no use for a short sailcloth.

Yeah, it's looking more and more like steel's the way to go. I just wanted to put this out there to gauge what the feeling in the street was.

Oh, and anyone who's thinking about picking one of these up should give Al Armstrong at Armstrong-Rockwell a ring. I mentioned that some interest was being drummed up over here, and frankly, he's tough to beat when it comes to deal-making. Just tell him I sent you.

Well, it's definitely darker than the Pelagos, and from what I've seen thus far, the brushing is far less pronounced owing to the case treatment. As for the strap situation, while I do confess to absolutely LOVING the NATO, the sailcloth looks pretty good, too.

Thanks Adam, was talking to him about a used FF he has, but on bracelet it's more than i'm willing to pay. He's the one who suggested I take a closer look at Bathyscaphe.

Most of the time, I prefer Ti; but in this case, I'd have to say steel.

This being a something of a blingy diver, the dark matte Ti, doesn't go with the dial/markers/hands. Somewhat shinier steel works better.

The Bathyscaphe, especially with an Armstrong deal price, really brings BP down to a more affordable level. I hope BP continues to offer models at more wearable sizes and more affordable prices. I might be forced to move on a similar Fifty Fathoms if it was further downsized to 40mm or so (bracelet or not).

Both look good, but I'd probably go steel. These look pretty thin, and appear to wear very nicely on the wrist. Adam, you're going to absolutely love, love, love the cal. 1315

i'm not sure that i like the brush marks on the SS that much, but i'm going just by the pictures and it could be that i'd have a different opinion seeing it in person. that would be my only criticism w/the SS version.

i'd lean a little more toward the Ti, i think.
