Halios Tropik SS - Who's In?

Post by matt.wu » Thu Oct 17, 2013 12:12 am

Jason announced that ordering is open for the Tropik SS in black and blue.

I have my grey bronze that I love already, but I'm personally pretty sure I am going to be adding an SS as well.

I'm right now trying to decide between black or blue. Halios, like the other smaller brands I love and support (AEgir and SAS included) are an absolute steal for the originality and build quality they offer amidst the flood of catalog cases.

Anyone else in?

It does wear small too due to the short lugs, but it's a nice change of pace when I wear it in rotation with something like an SAS or Panerai.

Additionally, the design of the watch is such that it sits nice and close to the wrist, so it doesn't ride high on a NATO, and it hugs the wrist on strap/bracelet.

Blue probably offers me the most variety in my watch box, but black is certainly more versatile.

Probably a touch small for me too, but Jason makes some cool stuff! I'll wait to see the Delfin, hoping it's a little larger. These are really nice looking pieces,

Halios Tropik SS - Who's In?

At $650 for a brand new watch, you honestly feel like you can/should order both!

I was considering selling the X-71 bracelet off my FF chrono, and that mother retails for something like $5k.

The disparity is, quite frankly, ridiculous.

The blue would definitely give my collection a nice splash of color but I find the shade a bit light...

My bronze one arrived a few days ago and has been at the PO since I can't make it there during work hours :(
I'm definitely interested by the SS version but can't decide on color. Am guessing black for versatility. Plus with that design and reasonnable size, and in black, it'll work great at work with a dress shirt too.
And I already have the blue Bremont

Absolutely love this one in black but it's to small for my wrist. I am patiently waiting on the Delfin. Jason makes great stuff.

Definitely one of the few micro brands to own.
Jason's designs and CS are both great

Not a huge bronze fan so I've been waiting for the steel model. Also like the look of the Delfin. Decisions, decisions...

I love everything about this watch. The lugs, dial, applied indices, company, price, etc. The only thing, and I don't know if it's just the pictures or me, is the bezel font. It looks "off".

The size makes this one a no go but I too am anxiously waiting for the release of the Delfin.

I ended up ordering black I think this watch will look great on NATO and Zulu - can't wait to get it, I had a Blue Ring in the past and the quality was great.

I wanted to order one (really like my bluering) but I currently feel like I have enough (too many?) watches.

And I've got plenty of both black and blue (Black: OS300, Vortex, Titan C and WWW Bund; Blue: Bluering and Chrono avenger). So I'm struggling to make this make sense in my own head as I really want the black one. I know this hobby isn't supposed to make sense ....

I like it. I would like the bracelet version, but for some reason I have never been a mesh guy. The first versions had a three link, so hopefully they still have that. I may have to order one.

Anyone have input on the bracelets they sell? Are they nice and firm so to speak,Iike a rolex, or are they kind of tin-like, like a lower end seiko?

Nice piece! I already have too many watches, though, and my collection rocks right now. Ok, I may change my mind tomorrow of course :)

from my experience with two of his prior offerings, his bracelet's are sturdy as hell. no doubt there.

my only issue is I like tapering bracelet's.

that black one looks great but I do think the blue might be a little to light in color.

I prefer tapering bracelets as well.

I am kinda leaning blue. The brightness is kinda part of the appeal I think. It's different.

The blue is gorgeous, but I ordered a black to go with my green Tropik B. Curious to see what the Halios sharkskin strap is like.

Decided. I'm in for a blue. Black is awesome and versatile, but blue is just unique and cool. I am interested to see if/how the dial plays different in various light.
