Great selection. I had one for years. I considered it an all time keeper... and it was .... until I picked up the RGM 300. That is a great watch on straps, too. Enjoy it.

They look like they are in great shape. Are they a known weak point? Do they just get scratched to hell. I heard something about bracelet changes being a bitch.CGSshorty wrote:Looks great. How are the lugs?
Re: Just in: Kobold Seal
From your single picture, the SEAL looks great. The lugs do take some wear if changes are not done carefully (taking time to secure the watch and protect the lugs). A lugbar threader is also a must. Check out the sticky on changing straps, on the WUS Kobold forum.aztecknight wrote:They look like they are in great shape. Are they a known weak point? Do they just get scratched to hell. D is right. The lugbar threader is a must. I'd only ever gotten one with the last seal and it makes a huge difference.

What is this lugbar threader you guys are talking about?

Re: Just in: Kobold Seal
It is basically a threaded extension that connects to an end of the long part of the lug bar and allows it to be pulled through easier. Ball has these for their watches too.BSears wrote:What is this lugbar threader you guys are talking about?

I hope it works out for you.

No way, this watch was made for bracelet.patstarrx wrote:Take that dam bracelet off.

Truth. Get mine back from servicing on the weekend and cannot wait to get it onto the bracelet. Whole lot of steel there.aztecknight wrote:No way, this watch was made for bracelet.
Enjoy and wear in good health.

Correct...that beast is a bracelet piece. I have owned a SS steel SEAL longer than any other watch in my collection. I have burned through about sixty pieces or so in the last five or six years, and still, the SEal attracts more compliments than any other watch.jad3703 wrote:Truth. Re: Just in: Kobold Seal
I wish Kobold would bring it back. Save Mike's bitch fight with Fricker it might still be in their catalog.
Way too many watches
Re: Just in: Kobold Seal
Same thing for me. I have received more comments and compliments on the Seal on steel than any of my other watches I burned through three prior to now, much to my chagrin (including a complete one from the first production run), but this one is the keeper. The heft and presence of the Seal is impressive - there is no other word that I can think of to describe it. And I have complete confidence that I can wear it any time, anywhere.lilhoody wrote:Correct...that beast is a bracelet piece. Awesome get there Azteck ! Your pictures of it are awesome also I Think.
Can really see the deep black matte of the dial, and how beautiful that is. Together
with this design it's pretty spectacular. One of those designs in recent years that
you always recognize right away.
Now you have one on the wrist sir. Huge congrats to you !!!

Re: Just in: Kobold Seal
I'm sorta partial to the SEAL on a black NATO, but the bracelet sure does make it one helluva wristbeast.
As for seeing another one, we might be in luck before long, though not in quite the exact same fashion. The SEAL was retired after the death of James Gandolfini -- not because of the dispute with Fricker; Kobold was already manufacturing the case in-house -- but Mike indicated to me that he was looking to revisit the design in some form.
That notwithstanding, the OG SEAL remains my favorite Kobold, and will remain a part of my collection for a long, long time to come.
Regards,
Adam
