I hope our own Darren (dmgreen11) doesn't mind me posting his quote from the other forum.
[QUOTE=dmgreen11;16229706]with whom I was communicating by e-mail. She quoted me the 3,600 EURO price. After the messages above, I responded that maybe she was unaware that I was in the United States. I asked if the price should have been lower because I do not pay VAT. She the responded that the price for me is 3,600 EURO, regardless of taxes.

Very nice watch, but $3.6k euro is damn steep.

So i wonder who purchased this name and is trying to resurrected it with some pre-paid history?

I really like the re-issue and think they did a good job with it for the most part. Size is good and houses a decent Swiss movement (standard ETA fare here). 3,600 Euro is a rather shocking price however, especially in light of the fact that this is the price they are charging with VAT to citizens in their own country. They are simply taxing folks outside of the EU on their own with a sort of ZRC-VAT. Quite dishonest in my view, and at least to me, seems to suggest they really have no desire to sell outside of France.
Even without VAT the watch is over-priced - just not by quite as much.

When a watch seems vintage, but also new
at the same time it's great imho. ..Haven't actually seen this one before,
so thanks so much for the news, and heads up about it !

In the WUS topic there's a link to an interview with the owner and he's the nephew or whatever of the founder.
It's in French but soon after the link I posted a translation, I can look for it if you want.
So he IS resurrecting the brand but at least it's a semi legit guy.
Regarding the vat issue, I would not discount the simple possibility that they just don't know that you do not need to apply vat when selling extra EU, if I were interested in the watch (I am not) I would write them saying "hey guys you are aware you don't have to charge vat right?"
Here's the text of the email in case someone wants to send it.
Merci d'avance
I sent an e-mail quite similar to this one to their rep, suggesting that VAT should not be due and owing from a U.S. buyer. The response I got back was clear and unequivocal in that they are going to charge U.S. buyers 3,600 Euros, regardless of VAT. That is simply the cost to a U.S. buyer. They fully understand the VAT issue, and have simply elected to charge more for their watches when shipping outside of the EU. That is their choice, as is electing not to purchase any of their timepieces.

Looks cool, wouldn't pay that much. Plus it's not really solving what I consider 'serious' watch issues
Did a couple of dives yesterday with the 009. Between that and a 20 year or Mares depth gauge, I was all set. No fancy gizmos necessary. The turtles we dove with didn't seem bothered by the lack of fancy gear
