Anyone a Benarus fan?
Anyone a Benarus fan?
I was checking out the Megalodon KS page and was wondering if anyone had considered going for one.
https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/st ... dive-watch
Yeah, its not subtle and at 17.5 mm it will not live easily on your wrist but I admit to being tempted.
I assume it will be Asian manufactured and they disclose there will be a Miyoto movement but overall, the specs are pretty good.
But is it worth $750?
They seem to be popular and previous runs sold out but this doesn't mean too much.
Any insights would be appreciated.

I'm a Benarus fan, but not that one. It seems to see ll well, though.

I'm with Chris, a fan of Benarus, but not the Megladon.
Re: Anyone a Benarus fan?
I'm a fan, but wish they would make a smaller sized Megladon (something in the 42-44mm range)

Never owned one, but I like the brand and the owner seems like a cool dude. One of the good guys.

Great micro brand, well made and good CS. Love their watches and the Raven but this one is just way too big for me. Not my style, but if it's yours, go for it as they make nice watches and that model has sold very well in the past.

Jeebus, WTF is going on around here?!? We turning into WUS?
Re: Anyone a Benarus fan?
Everyone in the thread said they didn't like it. How is that "turning into WUS"?foodle wrote:

I actually wouldn't mind it around 42mm. I've always kinda liked the :sharktooth" dials on these.

Re: Anyone a Benarus fan?
Not for me but I'm glad there are still some wacky dive watches out there getting made.
Re: Anyone a Benarus fan?
I am (just ask JP ). I like the Ti47/Moray line a lot, along with the Mil-Diver. I wish I'd kept mine, tried to buy one a month or two ago but it was sold within minutes.
Never liked the Megalodon though.
Interesting he's going the kickstarter route this time.

I know right.... it's crazy how long ago that was!
And spot-on it's a Fricker case.... the same case as the Kremke from memory (different bezel)

I wonder why the hell he is doing a kickstart for his watches? maybe a bigger audience?

Certainly a much smoother pre-order process than going through all of the WUS thread bullshit.toxicavenger wrote:I wonder why the hell he is doing a kickstart for his watches? maybe a bigger audience?
It really is a well designed watch. I would consider a version if it were scaled down to 43mm and 14mm thick, but then the name wouldn't work.

He says it allows him to order the correct number of each dial color.toxicavenger wrote:I wonder why the hell he is doing a kickstart for his watches? maybe a bigger audience?

Re: Anyone a Benarus fan?
that is understandable, since manufactures usually need a certain amount ordered to do a custom job.CGSshorty wrote:He says it allows him to order the correct number of each dial color.toxicavenger wrote:I wonder why the hell he is doing a kickstart for his watches? maybe a bigger audience?

Re: Anyone a Benarus fan?
I can say good stuff about Benarus and CS. I had one of the first issue GMT worlddiver in quartz. It just stopped so I contacted them about battery replace and that I was third owner.
He straight up wrote they made a mistake by putting too large hands and it damages the movement. Then just sent me another note telling me to find my PP receipt, forward it, and he would reimburse me in receipt of it back.
That is exactly what happened in 12 days too.

Re: Anyone a Benarus fan?
Huge Benarus and Raven fan for life. Both mine are keepers forever and still want another Moray with Chinese numerals one day.
I wish they'd make it a 45mm but I can't do that size. I wish I could because it's incredibly appealing to my eyes. It pains me not to be able to get one because of the size.
I'm sure many will be resold for $1,000 to $1,200 when they first get delivered.

I will follow on with the fact that I've never wanted the Jurassic megalodon in any iteration. The vintage moray is a great looking watch. I just have serious troubles with domed watches.
