Tudor Pelagos (Blue) Review
Hey everyone, I finished our Tudor Pelagos review, the new blue model with in house model. Check it out here.
Re: Tudor Pelagos (Blue) Review
Thanks Brett---excellent review as always...I'm warming up to the Blue, but not
sure about all of that text..What I do like is the very small price increase for an in-house as
well as throwing in the rubber straps with the bracelet--full kit.

Strong writing, Brett. Your reviews are always some of the most in-depth and educational.
I am torn on this model. Will need to come by and check it out for myself in person

organization and flow - I like the design and details of your review.
format notwithstanding, I still prefer the OG Pelagos, but still a great review

Great and detailed review. I think you're the first one here that likes the blue (or maybe I've ignored others who've said so).

Re: Tudor Pelagos (Blue) Review
Thanks for the kind words guys. I do love the blue...I always like a little color in my watches. But the good news is that the black model will also be available with the new movement. I agree though, not crazy about the scroll of text at the bottom. It's like a Star Wars opening sequence. The black 2nd gen hasn't been released yet, so you can still buy a new first gen if that interests you.
Re: Tudor Pelagos (Blue) Review
Such a great review Brett. So well done !
Really get a feel for what makes these watches so exceptional I think here,
and even more respect for Tudor also imho. ..The whole connection to the
past with overall style, and look of the hands is sensational Brett. However,
you really appreciate just how modern, along with refined these beauties
are here. Incredible sir !!! Thanks very very much !

Very nicely done! I'm quite impressed with your writeup.
I have the original black Pelagos and am deeply in love with it. I may have to pick up a blue one as well.

I really need to see this one in person. I still don't love the blue.

GREAT Review.....Horrid Color and text....sorry
Re: Tudor Pelagos (Blue) Review
Thanks for the review! I don't like that blue, I think if it had a black bezel it would have looked better.

I might do a photo shoot with the new black version when it comes in. I think we're expecting it in December.
Re: Tudor Pelagos (Blue) Review
A side by side photo would be informative. Thanks!

Absolutely. Had we any in, I would have had taken some photos with the 1st gen Pelagos too, but the timing just didn't work out unfortunately.marchone wrote:A side by side photo would be informative. Thanks!
I did happen to have a Seiko Marine Master SBDX014 on hand though and I've been debating whether to release a lume comparison shot:

Re: Tudor Pelagos (Blue) Review
Indeed, a great review.
I so want to like it as I had dreamt of a blue Pelagos and I havent liked a single pic I've seen of it so far. Maybe I need to see it in the metal. The blue is just wrong and the text is killing the dial as well as the missing marker at 3 for my taste.
Can't wait to see it at my AD

Excellent review....but one thing I would like to see is.....pictures in natural lighting (sunlight, outdoors etc) rather than in a studio under focus. That should give a more clear idea of how blue is the blue (am I making sense?!?!)

Re: Tudor Pelagos (Blue) Review
Yes, definitely. Basically we had to make a decision to standardize the photos so they appear similar even over the course of years of reviews, although this can have negative effects too (like black case/black dial watches against a black background). But I'll try to take some wrist shots in natural light (I normally do, I was just in a rush on this one) to make sure to give a broader range of appearances. I can say that the Pelagos is a little more subtle in natural light than it is in the bright white lights I use for photography. It really makes the blue pop. It's still a very, very blue watch in any lighting, but not quite as intense on the wrist.shahtirthak wrote:Excellent review....but one thing I would like to see is.....pictures in natural lighting (sunlight, outdoors etc) rather than in a studio under focus. Re: Tudor Pelagos (Blue) Review
Looks like this one is gonna be a fail for the most part. The particular shade of blue and excess text seems to be the big downfall for this one.
Re: Tudor Pelagos (Blue) Review
I hope it is a huge fail.....and I'll pick one up for cheap.

Cool review Brett - I love the blue so can't wait to see one IRL
Re: Tudor Pelagos (Blue) Review
nive review as always.
i've stated my dislike of the new pelagos. the in-house movement is significant, but at the expense of making the watch a little thicker which i don't like. plus, all the added text really ruins the 'on-the-wrist' aesthetics...to see that ever time you look at the watch is major. i also liked the '3' marker on the first gen pelagos...without it, the dial has a unfinished vibe to it.
the shade of blue is imo, the wrong one...but that's a purely subjective choice.
