Some people just have a way with words, and other people … oh … not have way.

Re: Disabling Tapatalk
Overall, I’m finding the experience on the forum better than when Tapatalk was enabled. Not perfect, still some doubles, but definitely way faster on average.
Maybe we’ll look to see what’s next in debugging steps, including looking at other forum software.
I don’t plan on enabling Tapatalk tomorrow yet though.

Re: Disabling Tapatalk
On an unrelated topic somehow I've been showing I have a negative 2 private messages for awhile now? Not sure how that can be as my inbox, outbound, and sent are all clear??
Re: Disabling Tapatalk
Is this the issue...?
You do not have the required permissions to view the files attached to this post.
Re: Disabling Tapatalk
I see now that the majority of Tapatalk enabled forums I frequent are hosted on Vbulletin. I also saw XenForo
Many will register, few will last
Re: Disabling Tapatalk
i will admit that now that attachments work properly, I prefer this than TAT. There is still lag though so not sure what it solved. That said i dig this and if TAT comes back may still use the browser attachment method

Re: Disabling Tapatalk
I still hate it. It is not sized to fit the screen like tapatalk is. I hate when I click on a post it doesn’t bring me directly to the last post. I miss the photo previews tapatalk shows for each thread. Sorry, I get there are issues with TT, but this mobile browser is a step backwards.

Re: Disabling Tapatalk
I haven't experienced a difference, either way. I did not have a lag with Tapatalk and do not have a lag without. Whether I'm on my MacBook, iPad or iPhone, it's all the same. I use(d) Tapatalk Pro on my iPhone and iPad and browser on my MacBook. DWC is like crack, I will find a way to access the site, regardless of the "dealer".

Re: Disabling Tapatalk
ill deal with whatever the outcome. As stated before perhaps making it not as simple will keep me more focused on important things like life, family, work.
Re: Disabling Tapatalk
I don't mind the change. It's just different. Biggest difference is now I'll probably visit slightly less since it's not an app, which doesn't make any logical sense beyond DWC doesn't run through my mind when looking at the phone.
Re: Disabling Tapatalk
I find the browser method more difficult, not just because of attachments but because the text is smaller. If I adjust my phone to have bigger text and everything else all of my other apps is too big. I also prefer dark mode.
Re: Disabling Tapatalk
The biggest question is how the F*** is tapatalk the only option for this? I am amazed no other forum software exists other than tapatalk.

Re: Disabling Tapatalk
tapatalk was fighting a losing battle from the beginning, the sheer number of plugins they have to develop, maintain, secure/patch, and improve is staggering in addition to all the work that goes into making an iOS and Android app.
I'm surprised more forum software platforms haven't just created apps for their own platforms on iOS/Android. Sure having multiple apps for multiple varying forums would suck, but I feel like very few people visit more than 2 or 3 forums with one being their main community...

Incidentally, do you have any experience with the Tapatalk web forums? I suppose they went backwards, developing the app first and then building a forum that probably is directly/best compatible.

Re: Disabling Tapatalk
Even though I'm fine on mobile (it's really totally fine when you get used to it), that would be something that I'd be willing to buy in order to help recoup the time/money to develop.matt.wu wrote: ↑Mon Mar 04, 2019 1:31 pmAndrew and I were just discussing looking at solutions with forum-specific apps.Knome wrote: ↑Mon Mar 04, 2019 1:26 pmtapatalk was fighting a losing battle from the beginning, the sheer number of plugins they have to develop, maintain, secure/patch, and improve is staggering in addition to all the work that goes into making an iOS and Android app.

Re: Disabling Tapatalk
If DWC is any faster for some folks- as my lagging post and Brice’s 3X sales proved otherwise- it’s prob from 1/3 of the traffic since deleting tapatalk.
DEATH FROM ABOVE
Re: Disabling Tapatalk
Unfortunately I’m getting just as many lagging posts, almost every post.
Re: Disabling Tapatalk
For me, posts are faster on average without a doubt, but I'm getting a few delays too. phpBB has been having some reported issues. Unfortunately for those unwilling to change, we need to leave Tapatalk disabled if we want to debug further.
Re: Disabling Tapatalk
Is changing from phpbb to another platform not an option?
I’m on several other smaller forums like this one with a core group, and vbulletin works great, especially with TT, which many here seem to prefer.

Re: Disabling Tapatalk
I'm seeing no issue with lag and am coming up to speed on how to best use on mobile/iPad. Works for me but understand how text size could be an issue.

Never used tapatalk. I’m happy it’s faster.

Re: Disabling Tapatalk
It's an option, but a very heavy lift. And depending on the alternate platform, potentially incompatible in terms of porting history over.
Re: Disabling Tapatalk
Just to be clear I’m fine with no Tapatalk. I’m used to the browser now.
