The subdial picture sucks, but I’m sure some will like it.

I’m still wrapping my head around the idea that I watched the landing 50 years ago.

Exactly. Enough with the space stuff already. We get it. 1st watch worn on the moon.JP Chestnut wrote: ↑Fri May 17, 2019 4:48 amThe subdial picture sucks, but I’m sure some will like it.

I just looked at the underside of that bracelet, and it has a swinging "inner end link-link" like a hollow end link bracelet. If it fits on the old case, I'm going to buy it for my Gemini LE.
Re: Apollo 11 50th Anniversary Speedy
I think that bracelet is going to be in big demand if it fits the standard Speedy case.JP Chestnut wrote:I just looked at the underside of that bracelet, and it has a swinging "inner end link-link" like a hollow end link bracelet. If it fits on the old case, I'm going to buy it for my Gemini LE.

Re: Apollo 11 50th Anniversary Speedy
I still don't like the wide flat middle link design that Omega seems to be going to, but the regular end links just protrude too far for me.dukerules wrote: ↑Fri May 17, 2019 5:41 amI think that bracelet is going to be in big demand if it fits the standard Speedy case.JP Chestnut wrote:I just looked at the underside of that bracelet, and it has a swinging "inner end link-link" like a hollow end link bracelet. Re: Apollo 11 50th Anniversary Speedy
While Omega does lean heavily on the Speedy Pro and it's space connection, it would be impossible that they wouldn't release a special Speedy for the 50th anniversary of the moon landing.pbj204 wrote: ↑Fri May 17, 2019 5:11 amExactly. I like the watch. They obviously put a lot of thought into it. The only thing I really don't like is the bracelet.
Re: Apollo 11 50th Anniversary Speedy
Agree. I've never cared for any of the special edition Speedies with pictures in the sub-dials.JP Chestnut wrote: ↑Fri May 17, 2019 4:48 amThe subdial picture sucks, but I’m sure some will like it.

Re: Apollo 11 50th Anniversary Speedy
Funny - it's the one thing I don't like about the watch. The links look too flat and too squished together. And I don't like the polished side links/brushed center links combo.dukerules wrote: ↑Fri May 17, 2019 5:41 amI think that bracelet is going to be in big demand if it fits the standard Speedy case.JP Chestnut wrote:I just looked at the underside of that bracelet, and it has a swinging "inner end link-link" like a hollow end link bracelet. And what Jacob said about the too-wide center links. I have the same problem with a lot of the Tudor bracelets.

Agreed. I'm fine with the 10,000 LEs, but the good ones (just IMO) keep that stuff to the back with a distinctive stand alone dial design.Steve O. wrote: ↑Fri May 17, 2019 5:48 amAgree. Here's a link to Omega's other watches:
https://www.omegawatches.com/en-us/stor ... eview-2019
Highlights include a two register chronograph SMP and a new orange ceramic (that doesn't look bad) PO. They also seem to have ripped off the PP world timer to produce a really nice looking WT of their own.
All in all, Omega ate Rolex's lunch this year.

Re: Apollo 11 50th Anniversary Speedy
I agree. I used to think the too-wide look was due to a 21mm spacing, but I think it's a design choice. I don't like it at all.JBZ wrote: ↑Fri May 17, 2019 5:49 amAnd what Jacob said about the too-wide center links. I like the space stuff and dislike the cheezy cartoon stuff.
I’ll admit the LEs have gotten way out of hand.
As a big space fan I think they could have done better that put Aldrin’s ass on the subdial. Hard pass on this one.

Re: Apollo 11 50th Anniversary Speedy
The new snoopy is the worst modern Speedmaster IMO, yet people love it and it sells for $20,000. I'm clearly out of step.
Re: Apollo 11 50th Anniversary Speedy
Meh. I like the caseback, though.
Re: Apollo 11 50th Anniversary Speedy
I think collectors are just buying it to have it given where the values have gone.JP Chestnut wrote: ↑Fri May 17, 2019 6:26 amThe new snoopy is the worst modern Speedmaster IMO, yet people love it and it sells for $20,000. I'm clearly out of step.

A $9k dollar Speedmaster reminds me of something a very wise woman said. "Dont act like a guitarists, because 90 minutes of look what I can do is just too damn much"...

Meh. I wouldn't choose it over a standard Speedy, and I don't even care for that watch.
