Awesome read thanks for sharing...and still the balls to go diving with that thing, even after what I am sure was not a cheap repair bill.

I’m so torn about these. The movement is such a time bomb… Very resilient until something goes. Because they were modified Eberhard movements, there are no parts for certain conditions. My $3500 T graph became a $1500 paperweight when it broke. Nobody could fix it. But dammit I love them.

Cool read - thanks for posting.

I'll bet there are a lot of parallels between the author and many of us. I remember looking at the dive watches in the case of the G. Fox department store in Hartford CT (that'll date me) as a little kid while my mom shopped. Was a lifeguard from 16 to 21, PADI certified in '92. Still playing in the ocean today (2 days of surfing over the weekend with my trusty old SKX007 looped onto a Toxic).

They do look good. But like Archie says "they are shitt'ers".

You know always thought these were amazing on the outside Andrew,
but holy cow, that movement ! :o  ..This is one of those times
that it makes total sense to say... They don't make them like that anymore. :headbang:

to read ! Thanks so much !!!

A really good read, and thanks for sharing. I really liked this quote:
Teenagers are hard on watches, but back in 1971, there were no G-Shock beaters, and Bill wanted to wear his hard-won Doxa for everything and anything.
