I hope they get rid of the mid case with the build in fixed “spring bars.”
Re: So, its official now - Tudor x Marine Nationale
I wonder if it's easier/cheaper to do it the way the early photos showed. My guess is yes because it looks like it was done as one unit (as opposed to having to fix separate spring bars), but I don't have the expertise to be sure.JP Chestnut wrote: ↑Tue Nov 09, 2021 5:05 amI hope they get rid of the mid case with the build in fixed “spring bars.”

My guess is fixed bars are there to prevent this version from cannibalizing OG Pelagos sales.JP Chestnut wrote: ↑Tue Nov 09, 2021 5:05 amI hope they get rid of the mid case with the build in fixed “spring bars.”

Probably. I think Tudor has an informal rule to make one weird and unappealing design choice on most of their watches.TSD wrote: ↑Tue Nov 09, 2021 5:19 amMy guess is fixed bars are there to prevent this version from cannibalizing OG Pelagos sales.JP Chestnut wrote: ↑Tue Nov 09, 2021 5:05 amI hope they get rid of the mid case with the build in fixed “spring bars.”

It's funky which seems to be what Tudor is going for. I think a screw in, PAM style, fixed bar setup would be a million times better. Unfortunately, watches aren't made for people who like normal watches anymore.JBZ wrote: ↑Tue Nov 09, 2021 5:18 amI wonder if it's easier/cheaper to do it the way the early photos showed. Re: So, its official now - Tudor x Marine Nationale
I saw a couple guys on WUS said their AD's told them that this Limited Edition Marine Nationale is happening but also a refresh of the regular Pelagos as well in black, no other details but if they slim down that case a bit by using the new movement.... I am all in. I liked the current Pelagos but it would be even better if the caseback didn't bulge out as much.
Re: So, its official now - Tudor x Marine Nationale
More photos online and it appears, at least to me, to be about 40mm and steel case. My AD has told me I get the first one, so I hope he keeps his word.
Re: So, its official now - Tudor x Marine Nationale
Wow - that's a wild way to do "fixed" spring bars. Those aren't "bars" at all - just a milled out groove in the case. I've only seen this done on resin / plastic cases in the past.
On the plus side, that design will provide for one heck of a stout attachment method to the nylon strap. The negative is it is almost certainly going to feel heavier on the wrist (unless this remains a Ti case - then it won't matter).

I really like the looks of this watch. Head on, so you don't see the slotted case, it's probably the best looking modern Tudor. Great watch for people who wear NATOs exclusively.

If it happens and IF I get my hands on one, it’ll be my nato watch. I need to sell some stuff anyway.JP Chestnut wrote:I really like the looks of this watch. Head on, so you don't see the slotted case, it's probably the best looking modern Tudor. Great watch for people who wear NATOs exclusively.

If this is 40mm and ti I would definitely be in.

Perfect watch for you. NATOs just make watches wear way too large for my wrist.hoppyjr wrote: ↑Tue Nov 09, 2021 8:06 amIf it happens and IF I get my hands on one, it’ll be my nato watch. That can happen, but a single-pass strap works to keep the bulk down.JP Chestnut wrote:Perfect watch for you. Re: So, its official now - Tudor x Marine Nationale
That seems likely. My experience with this style of strap consists of buying a couple Natos on here, throwing them on a watch, and then immediately taking them off and sticking them in a drawer.hoppyjr wrote: ↑Tue Nov 09, 2021 8:21 amThat can happen, but a single-pass strap works to keep the bulk down.JP Chestnut wrote:Perfect watch for you. So is this going to be an LE or regular production?

My AD says they don't know, but I don't think Tudor really does LEs? I just hope it's not boutique only.
edit: here's a copy/paste from WUS, supposedly the guy heard this from his AD, sounds like it could be limited for 2021 at least? This is regarding the UK, but if it's true I assume US production would also be limited.
Pelagos FXD
Only 150 will be available in the UK with the MN.21 engraving
Pre-orders from tomorrow for the (slightly) more readily available MN.22 for next year
I'm a little peeved with my AD right now - I've been talking to them about this watch since last spring, and now that it's becoming reality I'm getting no sort of commitment from them, just the usual "we don't know how many we'll get" crap, ie we'll see if there's one left after our big spenders are done.

I'm finding the elastic parachute style straps to be the perfect compromise of having the NATO style, but slimmer and more comfortable.... unfortunately they would not work with fixed bars. Certainly would be up for trading this for a 40mm Pelagos either way.JP Chestnut wrote: ↑Tue Nov 09, 2021 8:10 amPerfect watch for you. Seeing some IG posts showing a fitted rubber strap. This looks photoshopped, though, without the countdown bezel.JP Chestnut wrote: ↑Tue Nov 09, 2021 8:00 amI really like the looks of this watch. Different text on the dial from the leaked photos, too.TSD wrote: ↑Tue Nov 09, 2021 9:22 amSeeing some IG posts showing a fitted rubber strap. Actually, Erika will make her strap with a design to allow for fixed lug bars. I’ve done it. Just ask her.dnslater wrote:I'm finding the elastic parachute style straps to be the perfect compromise of having the NATO style, but slimmer and more comfortable.... unfortunately they would not work with fixed bars. Re: So, its official now - Tudor x Marine Nationale
Anyone know why this is called a Pelagos when it’s a totally different watch?
I want to love it but being limited edition and with current prices I’m talking myself out of it.
One thing I don’t need help talking it down for me is the stupid lug blocks. I’m hoping that is a prototype. And a countdown timer… why? I don’t mind it but it’s pretty rare to see on a non-Sinn diver.

The three lines of text appear to match the pic Beckham posted (presumably a pre-production example.) I'd guess the MN specified a dial on issued watches only show Pelagos and that it satisfied at least a 200m depth rating.JBZ wrote: ↑Tue Nov 09, 2021 10:30 amDifferent text on the dial from the leaked photos, too.TSD wrote: ↑Tue Nov 09, 2021 9:22 amSeeing some IG posts showing a fitted rubber strap.
