First new watch purchase in a long time!

Post by Bradystraps » Mon Dec 06, 2021 9:18 am

Decided to own my first Swedish manufacturer watch, Sjoo Sandstrom. Haven't completely decided on which dial color but I am leaning white.

Case
Stainless steel, 36.4 mm or 41mm
See-through case back. Individually numbered
Scratch resistant sapphire crystal with anti-reflective coating
Water Resistance: 10 atm (100 meters)
Bezel: 24-hour bezel

Dial
Black, gray, orange or white; with white Super LumiNova index marks and hands with super LumiNova

Movement
In-house, SS G14 automatic Swiss made movement – the Caliber: 11 1/2’’. It has Manual winding, Fast date correction, Time setting with stop second, and beats at a frequency: 28’800 vibrations per hour. The movement has a power reserve of 42 hours.

Bracelet
Stainless steel with an engraved logotype one end piece or rubber bands with folding buckle

I like it. Could do without the verbiage on the lower half.

I'm curious about the in-house movement. Did Sjoo Sandstrom develop it from scratch, or is it based on an existing calibre?

Seems like a solid choice, but I don't know that I'd call it "in house".

Beautiful watch, or watches Todd !! :salute: :salute:

I'm going to wish you a SPECTACULAR Sjoo Sandstrom congrats ahead of time !!!

Am thinking the white would be incredible in person as well. Because it looks
really incredible just in the pic here. :) Not only is it overall a classic look, but it
IS different too honestly. Being nice, and sleek, but somehow full of attitude,
and stealthily bold. Even the touch of green on the GMT hand is subtle, as well
as just plain cool.

The in-house movement is yet another highlight on a watch that seems to be
one continuous highlight sir. ;)

It’s another in a long line of brands that lie to us to make something seem superior, when it’s not.
This is not to shit on Todd’s new purchase or the movement, but I review watches and I call out things like this when I see it. Many brands like to use the term “in house” or manufactured movement”, as I guess many do not care or just will believe what is written without doing research.

White dial all the way. Very sharp.

I like. I'm not sure I 2,340 Euro like it, but its still cool.

The blue and grey dial variants are pretty good looking too, although it looks like the grey is only available in 36mm.

Looks good without being too derivative.

Definitely my kind of watch, I really like both the white & the black versions. Looking forward to seeing wrist shots when you get it.

Those are both great-looking watches. For my girly wrist, the 36 would be the closest (38 perfect).
