Thoughts on the Omega Moon Swatch?
Thoughts on the Omega Moon Swatch?
Just saw this… waters down the Moonwatch brand… but for $250 I want one… even if Bioceramic is probably just plastic.

Re: Thoughts on the Omega Moon Swatch?
I hate the subdial layout but looking closely the images everything looks remarkably nice for the price. In some ways it’s peak omega in a bad way, but it’s also sort of cool.
I’d buy one for my daughter, but not at 42mm.

I want the Mercury. I’m not sure how to buy it. I’m nowhere near a Swatch store. Says in store only.

I’m going to have my daughter, who lives in Manhattan, get me one at the Times Square store on Saturday.

Re: Thoughts on the Omega Moon Swatch?
It’s a weird but fun release. Am sure it’ll piss off many speedy owners, which I kinda like too .
I admit it like those, well not all but I’m definitely getting the mercury one
And likely a blue or red too

They will be priced at the same price as the regular moon watch come Saturday night on eBay and gray market dealers.

Somebody has to say it. The Mission to Uranus should’ve been brown.
If you put a large switch in some cave somewhere, with a sign on it saying 'End-of-the-World Switch. PLEASE DO NOT TOUCH', the paint wouldn't even have time to dry.
Re: Thoughts on the Omega Moon Swatch?
I'm not sure what to think. I do like a couple of them - especially the Mission to Mars, with the vintage Speedie Project Alaska sub-dial hands.

Re: Thoughts on the Omega Moon Swatch?
This only available in selected stores is total bs. There’s a handful of swatch dealers in my area, all Jacks Surfboards locations, but I guess none are full on Swatch Stores. It feels like this whole campaign is directed at selling out at a small handful of stores and fueling an aftermarket frenzy.

We need Wu to buy out the SF store and feed us the goodies.

Re: Thoughts on the Omega Moon Swatch?
My first thought when I saw it was it was an early April Fools joke, but I soon realized it was real. I think they're pretty cool, and for $260 I'd buy one, probably one of the more sedate models like black or gray. The closest "selected" store to me is NYC, and I'm not going there to buy one. It's not a watch I'd go out of my way or pay over list for. One of the detectives on WUS somehow discovered that there is an "add to cart" button online for each model that is currently disabled, so it'll probably be available to purchase online at some point.
Re: Thoughts on the Omega Moon Swatch?
I like it...wish there was a store in Boston..
Re: Thoughts on the Omega Moon Swatch?
There's a Swatch store in Bridgeport, CT? Who knew?
I like the concept. Swatch watches have always been about inexpensive fun, and these fit the bill. I'm sure Omega looks at it as a way to attract younger folks to the brand.
On edit: I knew it was too good to be true. No swatch store in Bridgeport per their website.

I like the one with Saturn at 6:00, but in-store thing saves my $.
Re: Thoughts on the Omega Moon Swatch?
They are going to sell a LOT of these I predict. A limit of two according to the link above. I like the blue one. I am usually a sucker for anything yellow but I don't like the sun one. If the bezel was black with a black or even yellow strap I think I would work hard to find one.

I'd love to get one or two of these, but yeah I'm not hunting them down for more than $360.jswing wrote: ↑Thu Mar 24, 2022 4:04 amMy first thought when I saw it was it was an early April Fools joke, but I soon realized it was real. I wouldn't expect them to sell on their site with messaging like "Only available in selected Swatch stores". The cart button is just disabled because that's how their cart system represents not available online. Anyone can right-click and inspect the button to see all the default code there, but that doesn't mean anything.

Re: Thoughts on the Omega Moon Swatch?
I was at the mall last night and popped into the Swatch store. The sales rep said she had been getting calls all day from across Canada about these.
Anyhow, here is what she told me:
- They are only at Swatch stores for now, but will be available online for sale shortly
- These are not limited edition, limited quantity etc. There will be enough for everyone who wants one
Hopefully the flippers buy a bunch of these, get stuck with the stock and then can't sell them once they realize anyone who wants one can get one. Let's not forget this is how Swatch started out back in the 80's by producing fun, cheap, disposable watches to get people back into Swiss watches at a young age and then hopefully create a generation of watch enthusiasts. It worked on me as I got my first Swatch in 1986 and that was the crack pipe that led me down this path of craziness. No point limiting these. May as well give the crack to everyone for cheap and then crank up the price once they start fiending for something mechanical.

Re: Thoughts on the Omega Moon Swatch?
Yeah, I agree that's just the program's default. It does seem to make sense though that they'd eventually want to open them up for more sales. I assume Swatch profit is based on volume, not exclusivity, so restricting their sales doesn't make sense.substitute wrote: ↑Thu Mar 24, 2022 8:18 amI'd love to get one or two of these, but yeah I'm not hunting them down for more than $360.jswing wrote: ↑Thu Mar 24, 2022 4:04 amMy first thought when I saw it was it was an early April Fools joke, but I soon realized it was real. Re: Thoughts on the Omega Moon Swatch?
Only $260.
Will be available on line later on. Y’all don’t need it day 1.
They aren’t limited editions. Swatch is volume king anyway.
So let’s relax. I’m sure those who are interested will get one sooner or later. It’s a plastic watch not food or needed shot of insulin.

Didn’t think it was plastic. 🧐

It's "BIOCERAMIC" WTF that means. I suspect Brice is correct.Bradystraps wrote: ↑Thu Mar 24, 2022 9:21 amJeep99dad wrote: ↑Thu Mar 24, 2022 8:51 amOnly $260.

Yup, who the F knows what exactly “Bioceramic” really is. Interested in actually handling/wearing it. I think it will be better quality than many think. We will see!
Re: Thoughts on the Omega Moon Swatch?
Someone from GBR has one on eBay with four bids on it already. Price as I type.....$7,134
