And... it's tax time again

Post by HapaHapa » Sat Apr 16, 2022 9:19 am

:raised:
Well, taxes are due Monday so I guess I'll finish them up and close out a time consuming exercise that could be spent doing more enjoyable pointless activities. Such a waste of time.

I don't see this as procrastination. Procrastination only applies to things that are important.

I'm sure some will argue they value the refund $$$. F that. That only means you need to decrease your contributions.

What's even more egregious is property tax. You never own your property. If you don't pay the tax, it will be stolen from you.

Right there I can tell you are on the east coast. If there's one thing CA got right it was to restrict the rate of property tax increase. But damn do I miss the forest. Palm trees don't cut it. In Indiana it was only a short drive to the state parks or forests.

i always figure you're going to pay your pound of flesh to the local government via taxes one way or another. some places it's property taxes, others it's sales tax, others it's income tax. it's rarely all three that you get hammered with.

I’m in NY so it’s all three. But hey, at least the roads are total shit and the over government services are terrible.

That’s why we shuttered our NY plant and consolidated in TN. Too costly to do business in the state of NY.

I had no idea about this sort of thing since this is our first house. Big mistake coming here - I liked Michigan much better.

In the “tax you to death state“… Otherwise known as, Connecticut. This is a rough time of year for me as well! Could be ordering quite a nice watch with the payment I’m making on Monday. 🤬

Come home. Our President of the NY plant had a 3000sf house in Bemis Point and property taxes were over $11,000 a year. I’ve got the same sf in West MI and it’s $2700 a year.

Been some years since I got a tax refund. I always pay and ever since Trumps tax cut I pay even more. Any one else notice they pay more? How do millionaire pay zero? Paying more taxes than a millionaire sucks balls. Dam I am a retiree I should be paying less being retired. I guess millionaire fudge there books were they have more losses than they make but they still seem to live high on the hog they don’t seem poor. Now who here pays less taxes since that tax cut ? I don't.

You know, the cradle of the American Revolution? The site of a famous tax revolt? :banghead:

Four times a year I write a check for Montana 789.00 for taxes plus property taxes that comes out of my mortgage does not matter what state you live in democrat control or republican control I have lived in both, they all tax you to death. Half of the 50 states don't tax military retirement pay I have written a republican gov in Montana ask why are we one of the few that tax military retirement pay they never wrote back.
