Looks like a lot of everything else that's out there IMHO

Re: Christopher Ward Aquitane collection
I think these look rather boring compared to some of their other stuff. If you remove the logo, there isn't really much that stands out.
If they are using the C65 lightcatcher case then maybe some profile shots would help.
I have always fallen short of getting a CW and this doesn't help their cause

Re: Christopher Ward Aquitane collection
Hadn’t seen these either actually Greg, thanks a ton !!!
The watches look really terrific to me. I wouldn’t mind having
one, or one of each variation to be more accurate.
Hey yeah, that is interesting what they did with the logo. I am
wondering if that is just for these watches, or they will now
use it with all of their watches now. Very interesting, as well
as cool sir.

Looks like a poorly designed micro brand.
Re: Christopher Ward Aquitane collection
They need to just pick the least bad of the bunch already and stick with it long term.pbj204 wrote:They are not good at logos.

Re: Christopher Ward Aquitane collection
i really don't mind the double flag logo at all.
but i agree, these are pretty generic. not their best work (other than the double flag logo instead of the name).

Re: Christopher Ward Aquitane collection
These are uninspired and I usually like their designs logo/name aside.
These look something some cheap Chinese micro brand would put out from off the shelves parts. Not particularly bad but not attractive or interesting for me.
And is this their 10th attempt at logo/dial branding ?? WTH Can they not hire a professional and come up to with a solid lasting logo???

I have a Yao "Milsub" dial that would look great in one of these. However, being priced at >$1000 makes them a little too dear for modifying.
Re: Christopher Ward Aquitane collection
it's called "double flag" because it has the swiss cross and the red cross on the british flag. not sure if the knocked out cross is british or swiss. it's supposed to show the connection between swiss and british.

We have criticized their branding for some time, so I’m OK with the two flag logo. Also in real photos I think it’s a decent looking piece. Domed sapphire, 200m, and about a grand. 60 day free return policy makes it easy enough to try.

i've always thought CW's photos were shit compared to what you see from some of the owners. they may be a little better now.
Re: Christopher Ward Aquitane collection
It's not a bad looking watch, but it's not particularly good looking either.

Re: Christopher Ward Aquitane collection
At last, a CW watch that doesn't have Christopher Ward printed on the dial. That two cross logo is nearly as bad though, it doesn't make a lot of sense because the Swiss flag cross is white, so far so good, but the cross on the Union Jack is the cross of St George and is red. I wonder what logo they'll try next. The blue dial, blue bezel version is quite nice but the rest look pretty cheap.
Re: Christopher Ward Aquitane collection
I've had a couple of opportunities to pick up a CW, but haven't. For some reason, they do nothing for me.

My immediate reaction was why on earth would anyone sell a dive watch on a leather strap. It's like saying we know you're not going to use our watch for it's intended purpose, and to me it's just a bad look. Other than that, it actually doesn't look too bad in Hoppy's pics.

It’s a very common thing these days. I guess most brands have just realized many use them for fashion and never dive, so they just stick them on cheap leather.jswing wrote:My immediate reaction was why on earth would anyone sell a dive watch on a leather strap. I’ve also gotten blasted for calling out dive watches in reviews where the bracelets don’t have dive extensions and been told no one uses any of these watches to dive with.
That being said, it’s all true in reality. I would say over 90% of the buyers of dive watches have never dived and that makes sense seeing the amount of dive watches on the market by almost ever brand, luxury, mainstream or micro.
I still think it’s pointless though to make a dive watch without many of the things that make it a dive watch and just makes it obvious that it’s intended to be a fashion piece.

Buy the cheapest strap you can and give it away when your Erika's comes in the mail. I've been diving for 40 years and everything you'd ever really want is now on your console / dive computer. Watch is a nice backup or for snorkeling. IMHO. (A lot of desk divers out there too).
Re: Christopher Ward Aquitane collection
So they got rid of the nice c60 trident pro 600 GMT (esp blue dial) to replace it with hard to read white on white GMT or bronze (yuck) and now finally added a black with some contrast (but no blue aquitaine GMT with a steel case). at least i can argue that the black is easy to read, has a gmt hand and could sub for my 1980 submariner rollie as daily wear since the price of that went into insanity (I'd hate to bang it around now). I like CW but I don't get the strategy of taking ultra popular pieces like the atoll and scrubbing them for what they think will be trendy. at least I can't afford to buy everything immediately since what you like on their site could disappear tomorrow (hello Chrono 24).
