The watches in Top Gun: Maverick

Post by AtomicTom » Mon May 30, 2022 11:46 am

I’m thinking you guys have been hearing how good Top Gun: Maverick is.
However, did you know there are evidently a lot of cool watches, as well
as watch brands within the movie also?

Have an article here that goes over some of the watches that were
worn in the movie. And it looks like they had things covered from
the vintage classic Porsche Design Chronograph by Orfina, to more
modern IWC “Strike Fighter Tactics Instructor” models. And even a
nice Rolex it sounds like.

I hope you enjoy:

Just a few of the watches:

A friend, who I trust with movie opinions, said this was absolutely amazing. It may be the movie that gets me to the theaters for the first time in something like five years or more.

Have to agree with you, and your friend Todd.

This might just be the one. ..I’ve heard it’s the perfect sequel,
and may just be better than the original, which is rare.

Want to thank you just for looking sir, as well as chiming in !!!

Watched it last night in IMAX. I thought they did a great job, and I definitely noticed the watches. IWC plastered all over the movie.

The movie is amazing. The watches are very cool. Jennifer Connely’s tropical 1016 is great. I really want an IWC pilot right now.

It was cool seeing all the IWCs. Didn’t even occur to me to wear my top gun. Great call backs and nostalgia.
A little cheese factor but it didn’t bother me.

In one word it was:

It was great. My first theater movie in many years and totally worth it. I’m not a Tom Cruise fan, but he’s a good actor. This was an excellent sequel.

Saw it Saturday night. Definitely noticed all the IWC. The dialogue and plot were pretty basic, but the action sequences were outstanding. It’s nice to see an honest to goodness blockbuster that doesn’t involve superheroes, or space travel, or alternate dimensions, or even dinosaurs.

No CGI or green screens is a pretty amazing accomplishment in modern movies of this type. The cockpit shots are the actors in actual flight.

Great article!

I watched it Friday night and we are going to an 8 o’clock showing this evening.

I never go to the movies but made an exception for this one.

I def payed attention to the watches.

IMAX is the way to go for sure.

This movie didn’t let me down!

Went last night with the family. Was expecting it to be pretty good. I didn’t expect it to be great. Going back to watch it again.

I'm going to see it.
I was the guy that was wearing rubber gloves and a mask at the theater (starting in about 1987).
I'm stocked up with PPE shit.

I watched it Friday on imax with three cousins. Went to my friends steakhouse prior.

Couple far fetched scenes but was very entertaining.

Need to brush up on operation mount hope iii and the IAFs involvement in the Fishbed after the movie.

Yowza, you guys are honestly getting me even more pumped about this movie
than I already was. :) Between the movie itself evidently being an honest to
goodness home run. ..And then there being these ‘top’ notch, or rather ‘top’
flight watches everywhere you look. It sounds like this movie literally has
it all. 8-) 8-)

The icing on the cake was hearing what everyone had to say about both the
watches, and the movie. ..Thanks so very much you guys !!!

Very very cool Brice !

It’s really something hearing how much you liked this, and how everyone
seems to be giving it such rave reviews here at DWC. :headbang: That is
really saying how impressive a movie it must be imho.

So we have a great movie, great watches, and that equals a really great time !! 8-)

Can’t thank you enough for chiming in sir, but also for the review !!!

I rarely go to a theater to see a movie for a multitude of reasons, but will probably wind up going to see this one.

I'll nerd out and wear my Lejour chrono. Not a Porsche Design, but similar...

I don’t think that I’ve heard anyone who said they didn’t like this movie. It must be good.

Another vote for TG2. Loved the first one as a kid and this one was very good. A little cheese factor thrown in but wouldn’t be Top Gun without some. Also refreshing to see an action movie without the wokeness. The black pilot and Phoenix were treated no differently than the other pilots. Excellent summer flick.

Not a big fan of the original but me and my wife just saw the new one last night and it was amazing. I really didn’t want to like it but I ended up loving it.

And when I got home I started browsing for a black Orfina or Sinn… lol.

Watched it with my oldest, Gerald Jr. Top notch! Even the romantic scene was tasteful and super quick! My 15 y.o. didn’t have to close his eyes for too long.
It's a beautiful world! Gerald.
