Deep Sea Service 116660

Post by Nomadz » Tue Jun 07, 2022 10:56 pm

Hey fellas . Don’t post much any more as work is out of control .
Pretty much just wear my Rolex Deep Sea since a picked it up here a year and a half ago . Well it has become tough to wind so it needs a service . Any recommendations ? It’s a 2010 116660 Mk1 dial .
So no RSC

I won’t use Rik D as I had a bad experience with that guy in the past. ABC ? LAWW ??

Cheers

Nick

Hey Nick. I hope all is well. I don’t know Rick D. I’d go LAWW.

My AD is a Rolex Service Center, Windsor. The guy worked for Rolex for years and they have all the proper equipment.

I don't know if LAWW can pressure test down to 4k meters (or if that even matters) but I have had multiple good experiences with LAWW.

My understanding the DSSD has to go back to Rolex service centers because of the 4K pressure testing, but this may not be true. I would like to know for sure as when my DSSD needs service I would like to know my options

I don't think anyone can pressure test down to the full depth of a DSSD besides a real (e.g., not AD) RSC. Even so, who's going down 10,000 feet? A pressure test to 300 meters is good enough to make sure your watch won't leak.

Nick - why no RSC? They’ll do it right and cost can’t be that much different. Send a note saying you don’t want polishing or cosmetic parts changed.

Sarraff or LAWW would be my choices.

Thanks Jason …. It’s my always watch and will never leave .
Yep no polishing or pip surgery . It’s going to Sarraff. They can pressure test to about 1200 meters . That’s way more than i need for ocean swimming . Thanks to my buddy Tom for the help here .

Ramsy is a top notch watchmaker and a friend.

Doesn’t surprise me Tom helped; that’s just what he does

Good to hear it’ll be sorted out.
