WOW! A Tudor FXD for $209.!

Post by Steve O. » Thu Aug 11, 2022 10:11 am

That is if you don't mind if it says Tactical Frog on the dial. The TF Doxa copies were cheap, fun beaters, although I sold the ones that I had because it just felt wrong wearing them. Not bad looking, but this one is a different level of wrong IMO.

These counterfeiters have no shame. That watch, like the steely dive, will surely find a wide audience on WUS. I get the some people’s budgets don’t allow for the real thing, but I would rather own a genuine Seiko than a fake anything else.

I agree it was a matter of time that we would see these FXD knockoffs.

Only because we allow it.

If our country prohibited blatant infringements like this, the market would be limited.

Amazon sells any watch you want with some fake name on the dial instead of a blatant brand name and that’s how they get around being called fake.

Search for Pagani Design on Amazon, you will be floored.

I think they are emboldened by huge sales to people who won't/can't pay $3k+ for the Tooter?

That's counterfeit for the year. It also proves how cheap to manufacture watch case.

There's literally no such thing as "counterfeit" in China. I saw fake boutiques in Nanchang, identical to the authentic boutiques with everything inside fake....Apple, Omega, Forever 21, Starbucks. The fixtures and signs were identical, the iPads, iPhones, MacBooks .... all fake! It's incredible!

yelp... this shit getting crazy. The real watches are unobtainium and commanding solid $ - and, the knock-offs are REALLY nice copies of the watches that are hard to get at a fraction of the budget. And, they have have a nice little workhorse movement that'll run pretty good forever. They cant be making much on each watch. Im figuring even with forced labor and children assembling them they're only making $125/watch.

I think it is interesting in an academic way how quickly these folks are able to replicate a watch. It seems the M.O. is to watch for a design that gains traction (I’m guessing by watching various social media platforms), then knocking out a non-branded replica quickly to jump on the hype train.

It speaks to how quickly they can program their CNC machines and spin up production.

FWIW, I actually like how the markers on this replica are raised, almost applied in appearance. They are probably just molded bits of glued on plastic, but it looks good in their photos.

Even at $200, it would still be wasted money for me. As much as people might say “it scratches the itch”, they never really do.

I'm not surprised, and I agree with the sentiments of it won't scratch the itch, etc.

I do see this similar to the doxa "homages", for unusual watches, its one way to test the water to see if it works for you, before spending $2k-5K (or more? What are FXDs running now?). I'd just do it in secret. In my basement. In my underwear.

Why underwear? Clothes are so over rated.

You know guys, and was thinking, if they actually changed up the hands,
and did something different yet still eye-catching, I think people would
get a kick out of it. Or if they changed up the markers, or even bezel
to totally stand apart that would be cool also. But it looks just like a
Tudor in seemingly every way, but the logo instead.

It really is something how brands can replicate the real thing, or real
things though that is for sure. ..Thanks just for bringing this up Steve !!! ;)

Really is fun seeing what everybody has to say.

I definitely think there's a place for an inexpensive titanium fixed bar watch in the world!

I'm curious how well the case is done, because it looks accurate in the photos.

Quality wise though, any Turdle or Samurai would win hands down I'd expect.
