The bezel may be a show stopper in person and like Hoppy I hope it wears like a solid 39
Hmm that looks like that’s as close as Daddy Rolex allowed baby Tudor to get to Submariner (no date). Almost gloss dial, almost gloss bezel, almost glidelock, almost Sub’s dimensions. Unfortunately, if you have SubC ND in your stable you don’t need this watch at all. However regular Pelagos and especially FXD could easily coexist with SubC ND in the collection.
TL;DR
I would never buy this one if I had Sub41 or even 140060 but I would buy regular Pelly or FXD
Pelly is the BWITW, this is some water downed downgraded to 200m from 500M fashion piece.
Like Panerai made Due with 38mm and snap on back.
I cannot argue with this.
I have right to refusal at my AD and will not be buying before handling.
I wasn’t aware of the dial/bezel being sunburst when I contacted them.
The charm of the Pelagos is the no frills tool nature.

Yeah the Pelagos has that anti shiny almost German Sinn Diver bead blasted look with everything matte and 0 reflection. What is this? I could not get SubC so I got this instead? I got a VW cause Audi was too expensive? Pass!
Even B58 is more honest back to retro Sub wanna be watch. Ok so Vintage Sub is $$$ and floods when you wash your hands so you get B58. What’s the point of this watch?
I’m sure it’ll sell well but it’s not what Pelagos was/is all about.

I’d love a 2 liner!
Maybe I’ll hunt one down…

I still can’t walk into the local AD and buy a BB58
My AD tried to give me the run around just to order one last year, so I went gray market for my BB58 blue. Had to show up in person to place the order, establish a relationship, etc. They seem more interested in getting me to come in to sell me what they have in stock. For a Tudor!

I’d have been happy with a no-date version of the regular Pelagos.

Seiko/Omega dealers actually want to sell them to you.
Discuss what?
That’s some ridiculous bs right there.

Well, I do think it could have been cheaper than it is, but as far as HEV and 500m, that’s just overkill that no one needs. I’ve said it countless times, most divers dive with a wrist dive computer and if you took a poll of how many people that buy Rolex and Tudor that actually use it to dive as a backup, I bet it would be less than 5%. And even those that do dive, most aren’t in a diving chamber/habitat where they need the HEV. Removing it and the 500m makes the watch thinner and probably more wearable for most.
The clasp though, I will agree on, they should have kept it the same as on the original.
yeah, honestly, very few divers need the HEV and 500m depth rating. most of us dive between 35-75 ft, and 300m is more than enough to dive safely in recreational dive depths. the "market" for depths ratings and HEV is more bragging rights than actual need. that handful of professionals who might want those ratings as a backup timer for their computer wouldn't possibly be enough to sustain this model.

It’s basically 40 (39.7) it’ll sell well but will not coexist, at least for me, with SubC or BB58. As a one watch - not bad

I hate the way he says Pelagos. I hope that’s not the correct pronunciation.

I love this and will have one. Perfect other than I wish it was grade 5 Ti—that said I had few scratches on my old 2-liner after a couple of years so I don’t think it’s really a problem.

Lol what is your way? I didn’t know there was another way…. Wait I heard a Brit wanker pronounce it something like pelahGohs with emphasis on Gohs. But then he kept calling Omega Watch an Ahmigah so that’s all kinds of fckd up

It looks great in the video IMO. I don’t mind they blinged it up a bit with the bezel (especially) and dial, but that does make it look extremely similar to a SubC, at least in the above. Have to agree with Art here and not sure I could personally justify it coexisting with a Sub. Very very similar in a lot of ways, which isn’t a bad thing.

Good looking watch but the bezel and dial, to me, are reminiscent of Seiko divers.

I guess I say it more like the British wanker except no emphasis on any syllable. Pel-uh-gos
Just now listening to the pronunciation video. I say it basically like that except he has an accent on the pel syllable.
The earlier video he says it more like pay-LAH-gos.
Okay I’m done complaining about words and the way we say them. I can barely speak as it is.

Normally I would bitch about 21 mm lugs, but if I were to own one of these it would always be on the bracelet like my Sub 41. If I have the opportunity to purchase one at MSRP I surely will, but I’m not gonna try to chase it down.

+1 looks like that grey dial 62mas remake spb143 something.
I’m gonna try it on tomorrow and will bring SubC to compare with and photograph. More to come

I think it's ludicrous for someone who used to own one, and now does not, to call it BWITW. Obviously, if it was the BWITW, one would still own one, because, well, it's the BWITW
I think the previous versions are fantastic, and I currently own one and greatly enjoy it. Would I rather have this one? I'll have to try one on, but my gut says "probably" yes. Less water resistance is completely irrelevant, as is the HEV for 99.9% of the the potential buyers and use cases. But being a lot thinner is something that generally works for everyone. Unless you have a big wrist (I don't and laugh at people who don't seem to understand that people have different wrist sizes), I think the size may be spot on.

I love the effect of the shimmer on the SPB143. Will be great if Tudor is similar.

Besides the brushed bezel (and the SPB143 bezel is brushed stainless, not ceramic), I really don't see any resemblance to the Pelagos 39 (except, well, it's a dive watch). I also own one, and that would never remotely occur to me (indices are totally different, no crown guards, different lugs, date, hands, bezel layout, bezel lume, etc, etc).

I've got a SubC and I'm probably getting one. And I have an FXD. Who knows how it'll play out long term, but I'm going to give it a try, assuming i like it in person. To me the case/bracelet being ti make it different enough from the Sub, plus I'll likely wear it on rubber a lot of the time. Of course, this is coming from someone who used to own 6 Panerai that were nearly identical lol.

Shit I love this but wish it was 42mm instead of 39
Agree, hopefully all in good time.
Then again, the 58 has been out for a while and we hoped it would result in a thinner 41mm Black Bay, but that hasn’t happened.
Seems 39mm in the new 40mm, and 42mm is the new 45mm+. Yeah I'm being somewhat optimistic. Really tike the dial & bezel insert one.
