You nailed it. They should have just called it something else.
This IS Pelagos. I can’t wait to get mine. Thanks for letting me borrow it

Me too.
I sold my Pelagos a couple years ago.
I have been waiting on smaller.
Now I feel I just need to track down a clean eta version.

That looks hot. How big is your wrist? Want to try one of these but that Lug to Lug scares me.

Here's mine on my 6.75 wrist. I've tried on the OG several times and found it a bit too big, but the FXD is so much thinner I think it works. Still big, but very comfortable. The extra lug length is the fixed bars underneath the strap and is a non-issue.

Yep as Andrea mentioned my wrist is about 8-8.125”
FXD is flatter and less chunky than Pelagos 42, it’s very wearable and extremely comfortable. Honestly, if I were saying my 47mm Pam Sub 1389 was comfortable for everyone I’d be out of touch with reality but FXD should look fantastic on most wrists. Brice wrist is 6.75, Jeff mentioned his is 6.75 etc etc.
My issue with what they now call Pelagos Reduced (39mm) is how drastically and abruptly Tudor changed the design language and DNA of what Pelagos was/is about. The size itself is fine for smaller wrists. If they simply shrunk 42 down to 39 I’d be celebrating with those who are praising Pelagos Reduced

So the "problem" folks seem to have is the reduction in specs (200m, no HEV) and shininess? Just trying to understand the comments from folks much more well versed in relatively higher end watches than I am.
In other news:
A Pelagos Reduced reservation(?) on Chrono24 for $6k

FXD doesn’t have HEV and is 200M
It’s the sunray sunburst dial and bezel and dumbed down clasp.
Pelagos was its own watch now it’s just looks like if you couldn’t buy the Submariner we have this for you for 1/2 the price

OK, I kinda of got it. So its a little less function, little more fashion, little less niche, little more mainstream.
I still want a FXD most of all

That’s exactly how I see it but I don’t think it’s necessarily a bad thing.
Honestly Rolex prices are really steep and they keep trending more and more towards “luxury” VS “tool”.
Compare a 14060M to today’s sub for example.
Tudor is just being positioned where Rolex was 20 years ago.
The good news is that they’re not discontinuing 42mm Pelagos. So it’s all good.
Not sure exactly but the ads have girls wear it. Something about “unisex” watch. Maybe it’s Tudors way to break into girls watches since I don’t think they sell to a lot of girls. I remember Lady GaGa pushed BB41 but I haven’t seen a single woman wearing one, maybe I’m not paying attention

All the gigantic watches that would make me (6.75) look like a clown wear perfectly on him.
Nope. My wrist is 6.8” and that’s my watch. It wears just fine

Exactly. If I had your wrists I’d sure go regular pelagos VS this new one.
I haven’t seen anybody wear a BB41, not just girls
More seriously, there’s a lot of women wearing subs/YM/GMTs (at least here in italy) so I think if makes sense to position the Pelagos 39 as a unisex watch.
Lol that’s funny
Yes large sub on a girl is sexy. Cameron Diaz had her Sub in a couple of movies - hot

Yeah, his is where I am ending up with it. We wanted a scaled down Pelagos, and instead they gave us Tudor’s take on a modern Submariner, almost exactly matching the dimensions of 5 digit. Probably a better move for them given the popularity of the Sub and the relative obscurity of the Pelagos. I have trouble believing the Pelagos every really sold that well. DWC just passed around the same one or two.
And thanks to this thread now I need a 39 and an FXD.

How can I get attention and passively complain about my new watch without asking the internet, Todd?

That’s about it. Same thing on car forums, where people post random questions they could more easily Google or check the owners manual. They also post shit like “I was in a car accident and waiting to hear what to do next”. Call your insurance company you stupid fuck.

Lol
I agree it was a dumb post but the fact the bezel came off sucks. This reminds me of the OG Pelagos having markers fall off the dial.. anyone remember that ?

Yes, but it wasn’t all of them and Tudor handled even out of warranty. Shit happens.

Sure do. I’ve read it’s still happening but Tudors taking care of those w the issue.
I’ve mentioned it previously but my bezel has become discolored on my OG. Rolex says it hasn’t heard of the issue and getting a replacement bezel isn’t possible from them without a full service.

Tudor/Rolex has their share of issues like anyone else. BB GMT date thing is obvious, but Google 32xx movement issues and it’s much more than just a few isolated cases. My Sub seems to have developed the slow down after slightly under two years like many others. Annoying as I’m going to have to send it in.
