Apple made a dive watch?
Apple made a dive watch?
Thought this was appropriate for the forum..... New Apple Watch Ultra. The only smart watch that I own is a Garmin Instinct for running, but this is interesting.
Re: Apple made a dive watch?
Interesting for sure. Say what you want but the user interface will probably be pretty good, although I wonder about the use of a touch screen underwater. I love my fenix for outdoorsy stuff because its buttons only, way easier to use with gloves. I think the Garmin Descent line is the same way...
Just saw an ad on youtube where various explorers/divers/etc were wearing this thing. Marketing departments for all the luxury "tool" watches are probably shaking in their wingtips or whatever they wear

Re: Apple made a dive watch?
Neat stuff Nick. In a way it's similar to what we were saying with the Hamilton S.E.
we just saw. In that companies can, or should make multiple kinds of variations of watches.
Who says smart watches have to look as they have looked for the last few years right?!
Or have to have the same personalities?! ..A watch like this actually shows us what is possible
smartwatch wise, and maybe gives us a glimpse of the future. One where we see the watches
stand out, as well as apart from each other.
Want to thank you for the report on these sir !!!

Re: Apple made a dive watch?
I've personally never been interested in smart watches, but I can see where this would appeal to those that were into them. I doubt many people will be cross shopping these against mechanical dive watches.
Re: Apple made a dive watch?
honestly, if they're truly useful as dive computers, then it's the dive computer market that should be worried.
i haven't read up on the features, but if it's just a dive timer with a depth meter, then it's still really just a backup to a real dive computer and only slightly more useful than a traditional dive watch. if it's capable of logging dives and managing them like a real dive computer, that's kinda cool.

49mm Ti and sapphire crystal + cool as hell straps.
I’ve already ordered one last night along with an extra XL strap.
Super excited

Re: Apple made a dive watch?
I’m a geek for Apple, but avoided the watch because I don’t want to charge it daily and I prefer old school mechanical watches.
That said…..this one comes close for me. Maybe the next gen model with 2-3 days battery life could make me do it.

sounds like the dive computer companies *do* have something to worry about. and hmmm... both my wife and i need to replace our dive comps before we go out again...

Re: Apple made a dive watch?
This one is up to 60 hours already. Besides don’t you charge your watch every night anyway?
Re: Apple made a dive watch?
I ordered yesterday also. I already wear my Apple Watch frequently, and this one is just even more up my alley.
Re: Apple made a dive watch?
Thinking of ordering as well. My Garmin dive computer is a bit beat up though it still retails for about half the price of the Apple Watch. Interesting that both are rated at 100m …apple has upped their game for sure.

First one that has me thinking I need an apple watch. And I'm a long time iPhone, iPad, and iMac user...

I bought a cheap watch from a crazy man
Floating down canal
It doesn't use numbers or moving hands
It always just says now
Now you may be thinking that I was had
But this watch is never wrong

Re: Apple made a dive watch?
i wouldn't wear it on a regular basis, either. but on a 1-2 week dive trip somewhere, it could be my only watch. or maybe if i go out on a hiking trip or something like that.Seppia wrote: ↑Thu Sep 08, 2022 12:27 pmsame here, I'm looking into it as a dive computer first that doubles as a smart watch.gwells wrote: ↑Thu Sep 08, 2022 11:31 amok, now i've read a little.

Ultimately I think I won't buy it because in order to fully use a smartwatch you need to wear it every day, and there's no way I'm wearing that thing daily
honestly, any dive computer that could double as a watch is going to be a lot bigger than something either you or i would wear daily (maybe some of the gorilla wrist dudes around here might). but it's a lot smaller than most dive computers (and especially the old oceanic puck i have right now). and it's not outrageously priced compared to most dive comps. plus my current one is old and won't connect to a computer/smart device. i'm presuming this would automatically sync up my logs to my other devices after i surface.

I'll sell my stainless 6 on FB marketplace or something. I can wear this one daily. The size doesn't bother me, and I happen to like the aesthetic of this one.hidden by leaves wrote: ↑Thu Sep 08, 2022 2:27 pmTrading in or adding to?matt.wu wrote:I ordered yesterday also. I'm in the Google ecosphere. It should only be a matter of time before there's an Android version, hopefully with the same call screening capability as my Pixel.
No, it's not Tourettes.
