Weiss First Dive Watch.
There’s no nice way to say it, this looks awful and reminds me of the cheap watches that used to sit on the display cases in JcPenny’s for $15.
It’s also $3000. And that all machined in house bracelet is legit the same bracelet used on the Crepas Tektite from a good few years ago.

Re: Weiss First Dive Watch.
As much as I like their field watch, this is a disappointment.
The printed dial and engraved bezel do look cheap, and I agree with Don regarding the bracelet. If I were going to go through the trouble of machining an in-house bracelet, I would’ve tried to stay away from the ubiquitous 5 link “micro du jour” design that was so popular a few years ago.
If I were going to spend low 4 figure $ on a micro brand diver (and I can’t ever see myself doing so), I’d have to go with the RGM.
That said, in the $3k-ish bracket, I’m going Sinn or Tudor all day. Weiss isn’t even on my radar.

This is a product of also ran participation trophy for taking 8th place mentality of Gaylord Fucker and his (movie) parents.
I would be embarrassed to present something like that to the world.

Re: Weiss First Dive Watch.
I have to admit it Don, this is one JCPenny's watch that I actually wouldn't mind having.
But not at that $3000 price as you said. ..I guess all of it has to do with much of the watch
being put together by hand. However, it's still jarring when you see that price, no doubt sir.
In any case, I still appreciate the look, so thanks very much !!!

I got the email and was excited until I scrolled down to the pic it’s bad and I hate to say it as I’d love to support their US made products. I also like their field watch offerings.
This is a major disappointment for me. Gonna be hard to move those im afraid

The bezel and the overall case construction looks about on par with the Maratac GPT that I owned. I’m fine with it for a few hundred bucks, but there is no way I would pay anywhere near what he’s asking for this thing.

Re: Weiss First Dive Watch.
it is really crude looking, it looks like when the microbrand watches first started and they didn't know how to really do case/dial designs. what a crapper

$3000 for that?

Re: Weiss First Dive Watch.
Pretty shocked that Cameron would handle that prototype and think, "Yep, that's a $3k watch" given the watches he has handled and the places he has worked. I just can't get past the bezel engraving.... if he could fix that it would go a long way.
And his lume shot isn't doing him any favors either.

Only if that’s what it looks like the next morning after it was placed on a nightstand for 8 hours. That new Weiss looks terrible, that bezel looks very crude.
But that photo of the Crepas Tektite looks great! I've seen that somewhere

Re: Weiss First Dive Watch.
Huh. Minimal lume - a new concept in dive watch styling.
Looking at the watch again, the end link fitment to the case looks pretty poor as well. The description that comes to mind is "amateurish" which is all the more shocking given the level of competence of the brand owner.
FWIW, I think the white dial version is the least bad looking, which is a bit of a left handed compliment, but it is the best I can do.

Re: Weiss First Dive Watch.
Just to add - looking at Demo's photo of the CREPAS next to even the white dial Weiss, if someone were to ask "which one of these watches is worth $3K?", I can't see anyone saying "Weiss".
Re: Weiss First Dive Watch.
pretty pathetic offering for the money he's asking... bezel and dial are just ridiculously cheap looking... he might sit on these for a while

I figured it was yours, but literally grabbed it off google as it shows, and it was from Pinterest. So I’m guessing the cropped your photo and watermark out to post it.DEMO wrote:That new Weiss looks terrible, that bezel looks very crude.

I just googled Crepas tektite.

Don't worry, the blogs and podcasters will be fawning all over it soon enough
Re: Weiss First Dive Watch.
I googled "Crepas Tektite" and got a hit on Pinterest for the same image. Yes, It looks like they cropped it to take the DEMO logo off. It happens all the time.tattoo chef wrote: ↑Mon Sep 12, 2022 8:32 amI figured it was yours, but literally grabbed it off google as it shows, and it was from Pinterest. Re: Weiss First Dive Watch.
I have the same done to my photos as well. I could put a transparent water mark somewhere right on the watch itself, but I feel it takes away from the image. It would be hard to crop out of course, but people have no respect for photos used online these days.DEMO wrote:I googled "Crepas Tektite" and got a hit on Pinterest for the same image.
