Is Luminox finally waking up?

Post by Wario406 » Tue Nov 29, 2022 9:26 am

I stumbled on this today and admittedly had to stop and say “hhmmm….”.

To my eye - Lumi’s are usually not the most stylish watches although they are tough and mostly value priced. This is the first one were I had to stop and say that I liked everything about it right off the bat.

Waking up would be knocking $500 off that price, at least.

Don't care for a 24mm lug width on a watch that size. In that price range, I'd rather go for a GSAR.
No, it's not Tourettes.

I hate to agree with Dave on general principle, but he's right...

But, price aside - ya gotta admit that it’s WAY nicer looking than most of their other watches. I think the hands are chunky because of the lume tubes. Marathon is in the same boat.

I dont know if I agree with Chuck - the BIG Marathon kinda looks bloated compared to this. I especially like that this is a very modest 42mm. But, that’s my happy place case size so Im biased.

This is the only one I ever really liked. My uncle got this one for me, and had Yao replace the dial. That was many moons ago…

I had that one as well (but with "Navy Seals" on the dial 😜). It was my go to camping watch until I forgot to take it off during a week long camping and hot springs tour of Colorado with my daughter.
Somewhere around Ouray the movement flooded and with the strong mineral content, it rusted up before I could get it apart.
I think it sat in a drawer until I moved and finally threw it away.
I like the looks of the blue one in original post, minus the pip and the price...

Am I the only one that doesn't like the look of Tritium tubes/vials on dials and hands? They can also burst with age....

In that price range I'm probably going for a Seiko. I like Luminox for their quartz beaters, I had a Navy Seal for years that I beat the hell out of and it just kept going. It wasn't the greatest looking watch, but the only thing comparable at the time was g shock, and they were all around 60mm, while the Luminox was wearable at 44.

Have to say that these are definitely sharp Mike. Not to mention
a real departure from what we are used to with Luminox.

What’s nice is even though they have the more refined way about
them, they still feel like a Luminox. 8-) ..Here’s hoping they add
more of this type of watch into the mix in the coming years sir.

Thx once again for the news !!!
