Thinking of dipping toes back into the watch game
Thinking of dipping toes back into the watch game
Yo guys, ive been outta the loop for a few years and no I wasn't locked up...lol..just family, work, and changing focuses etc. I just started thinking about all of these watches I own that are worth a small fortune. That lead to thinking, maybe I should sell some and downsize the collection, or trade some toward some other watch etc....With the Rolex market being at stupid levels I even thought of letting my EXP2 GMT go but who knows...
The real question here is ive been eyeballing this and it's starting to make me itch again after a few years of not buying or selling a single watch. It seems a nice piece to me even though I own 2 IWC Ingys already with a kinda similar case and bracelet. Anyone have any experience with this? I know Brice has the 3 hand one which is what got me looking in the first place.....

Hey Eric, welcome back. Not a bad idea to step away once in a while, I wouldn't mind going a couple years without buying a watch. As far as that GP, I have no personal experience but it looks great.

Oh man, this Friday seems to be a fantastic day for seeing old friends.
Let me echo Jeff’s sentiments and welcome you back to the watch world
sir, and DWC ! I can honestly say that this hobby hasn’t been the same
in recent times with not seeing your name pop up. I mean really just your
personality, as well as honesty and sense of humor are off the charts
awesome Eric. You have been sorely missed, and I am just happy
that everything is alright with you and hopefully your family.
I have said it before, that the watch community is much like a family
and this family reunion is just epic Eric !
I can’t give any help with this watch, but I can say welcome back !!!

Damn Tom, I forgot just how great you make ppl feel with your positivity! Great to be back! Im not sure that I'll be going full geek back into the wide world of watches but I did miss a lot of the stuff that went on around here......seems like a lot of the same peeps are still here!
Re: Thinking of dipping toes back into the watch game
That's a pretty cool looking GP. I have thought about getting back into watches again too, but I just can't justify spending more than G-Shock money on anything now that I have money lol. So I bought a couple of new G-Shocks and I don't even wear them. I made the right call!
¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Re: Thinking of dipping toes back into the watch game
Yeah man. I’m not looking to spend new money but rather trade or sell some pieces. I don’t need to hoard all these expensive watches I got. It’s silly really.ezcheese wrote:That's a pretty cool looking GP. Here’s a better idea: dip your toes into some Welches grape jelly. I’m pretty sure that Ben likes a good jelly toe as much as a weenie Panini. It also doesn’t cost you a dime!

Eric, I've got the 3 hand version and it's a great piece. The 3-hander is quite thin and super comfortable. I believe the chrono is a bit thicker, might be a consideration. The dials on these are really nice in person. The bracelet is probably the least impressive part of the watch, but it's still fine. No problem recommending this one to anyone.
Re: Thinking of dipping toes back into the watch game
Yeah the dials seem amazing looking for sure. Glad to hear you enjoy yours! I’m torn on chrono versus three hand.hoppes-no9 wrote:Eric, I've got the 3 hand version and it's a great piece. Dipping your toes back into the gravy bowl? That’s Ed’s favorite appetizer before he makes his way to the main D ish… but he may have to call you Erica for the night.

Re: Thinking of dipping toes back into the watch game
Hi ericf4.
I have kind of stated similar on my Blaincpain new arrival thread.. I just maybe SHOULD have spoken more about it in a seperate thread as me rekindling my hobby is probably more of a discussion thing than the new arrival but hey.
Great to see you dipping your toe back in and appreciating what you have.
Watches are an itch we will never scratch, we may take breaks but it is always there in the background. I am excited to see somebody else waking up from a watch coma and getting back onboard.

Welcome back. I’ve only handled one GP at a dealer and it was a GMT I was looking at. It was a stunningly beautiful watch and I actually flew to the AD to look at it since there were no local ones. Unfortunately, the crown pulled out in my hand when i was using the GMT function and that was it for me. It may have been a one off situation, but I couldn’t part with that kind of cash with that kind of QC issue.
Re: Thinking of dipping toes back into the watch game
Hahahah that’s crazy. What did the dealer say. “ I’ll give you 20% off….”BacoNoir wrote:Welcome back. I’ve only handled one GP at a dealer and it was a GMT I was looking at.
