Synchron/Poseidon Ice Diver

Post by namor » Fri Jan 27, 2023 8:23 am

Anyone else get this email - Synchron is taking pre-orders on a new version of the "Military" watch, made in conjunction with Poseidon.

https://synchronusa.com/synchron-poseidon/

Pre-order price is $990, slated to ship in February, with regular price at $1299. Its very similar in most respects to the Military, and has the Poseidon logo on the dial and caseback. Comes with a ploprof set of hands, which I like better than the original handset, and the rotor is tungsten, which I think is a first. (Tungsten is a cool choice since it is incredibly dense - about 50% heavier per volume than lead).

As a big fan of Poseidon gear, I may have to grab this one...

Oh man, that is awesome Seth and Bob, and no I did not get the email
about it, so thanks for the jaw dropping report !!! :o :salute:

I mean you get this ultra cool classic style, and although it might cost
an arm, at least it doesn’t cost an arm and a leg. But seriously, it
is ridiculously nice in every single way. Thanks once again !

I think the PVD case would work better.

It's cool, but I can barely see the minute hand. Being color blind can occasionally make a watch unreadable.

I don't think it is only the color blind that struggle. Fauxtina and yellow are not a good combination for legibility.

I really like my Synchron Military, but I think I'll take a pass on this one.

BTW- is there any link between Poseidon Diving Gear and Synchron? I guess Poseidon just licenses out their logo?

These are only pics.

In real life the readability is better for sure !

I've actually bought a few watches that looked fine to me online, then I got them and couldn't see them well.

I would like it better w/o the Poseidon logo.

I will add that I think it is a cool watch and I really enjoy my Synchron Military. I think the Synchron case is excellent, both with a BOR bracelet or an Isofrane.

I also think this represents a really decent value at under $1K.

The only miss is I think the legibility would have been improved if they had used a slightly darker shade of gray for the dial.

For those with the original, how do these wear? Specs make it seem short and stout.

OK, I understand.

But I think it looks better in real.

Eh screw it, I'm in. Once I saw 68 hour PR I couldn't help myself. Seems like a solid value here.

Apparently they teamed up to design this watch for the Swedish military?

Ordered. Very cool. Love it on rubber.
LJP mvt. Only $1000. They’ll do well on secondary anyway I think so it may be easy to move if you don’t like it

I like it but got burned by the wonky pre-ordering system Synchron had for their Military version. I am not a Sychron hater, just not interested in how they do business.

The unique movement reminds me Aquadive Twin Barrel Fleurier movement they did some years ago. Any idea who/what is LJP movement? Are they popular movement for high end watches?

The site just got overwhelmed. That’s not an uncommon occurrence these days. It got straightened out and ordering went smoothly.
