Top 5 - Money No Object
Top 5 - Money No Object
In an effort to post up an Atomic Tom style post, check it out…
I know we’ve done these types of threads multiple times over the years but tastes change, opinions change.
If you could just have 5 watches, but money was no object, what would that 5 look like? Post plenty of pics!
Here’s my 5:
I would keep my Grand Seiko Evolution 9 aka “Black Stream”
2 from Lange!
The Zeitwerk Date
And the Lange 1
Ploprof
And this Zenith El Primero Safari
What about you

1. Platinum Speed master skeleton I saw for the first time today in Fratello.
2. Omega Moonshine Apollo 50th anniversary. Loved this when it came out.
3. Omega Platinum Speedmaster with the 321.
4. Frederique Constant Highlife Perpetual Calendar. I know there are higher end PCs but I like how this 1 is more sport than dress, 100m WR.
5. Lange Lumen. I love the lumed date.
I have no idea why 3 Speedmasters.

Vacheron Constantin Overseas Chronograph (blue dial)
Jaeger-LeCoultre Master 8 days Perpetual Calendar
Glashütte Original Senator Chronometer (blue dial)
Blancpain Air Command Flyback
Patek Phillipe Nautilus Annual Calendar
Not completely sold on this one, but every cost-no-object collection needs a Patek so I'd give it a whirl...

I'm pretty simple, or I aim low I guess. Gratuitously stolen pics added for @ezcheese
- 36mm explorer, plucked from the safe and sized, handed to me with no games, "relationship", or other BS. With Drilled Lugs.
-39mm Pelagos, again, walk in and take home, and again, drilled lugs.
-A black or grey no-date Aquanaut, with, you guessed it, drilled lugs (AP on a toxic nato would be so tits) - Snoopy moonwatch - A pristine, low mileage, all service records, 996TT with Chrono package and full baller exhaust- thats a clock, right?

Yowza, this is honestly too much fun Derek, although I have such a tough time picking 5
to be honest. ..My list of five could change every single day. And end up my top 500 sir.
But let's see if I can pick 5 for your incredibly cool topic.
These Zodiac Sea Wolf SST 36000 with their coffin cases are an all time favorite:
Zodiac's Super Sea Wolf always gets me too:
The good old regular Sea Wolf amazes me as well:
I love all of the Astrographics too:
And I'm cheating here, but tied for fifth place would be Doxa and Omega with these two
beauties below:
What a phenomenal thread Derek, thank you !!!

Nice! I think we will all be showing our brand loyalties/infatuations in this thread.Dynamite_Kid19 wrote: ↑Tue Jan 31, 2023 5:23 pm1. Platinum Speed master skeleton I saw for the first time today in Fratello.

Re: Top 5 - Money No Object
The reason I like watches is for the innovation in complications, so my "money no object" choices reflect that for the most part. To be clear, I'd absolutely buy and wear these if I they were affordable, so it's not just going to be "watches that are expensive". And TBH, I probably could have made a list just out of JLC. Still my favorite brand overall. Been on a rose gold kick lately, so couple of choices in material reflect that.
Jaeger-LeCoultre Master Grande Tradition Gyrotourbillon Westminster Perpétuel
Jaeger-LeCoultre Reverso Hybris Mechanica Quadriptyque
Greubel Forsey GMT Tourbillon
Kari Voutilainen Masterpiece II Chronograph

Tom, from the watches you post in WRUW to this, I see you definitely have a "type" !!!!!!!!!!AtomicTom wrote: ↑Wed Feb 01, 2023 9:08 amYowza, this is honestly too much fun Derek, although I have such a tough time picking 5

Re: Top 5 - Money No Object
Yup. If I'm dropping $25k on a watch, it better be absolutely hilarious, like having a Snoopy Rocket Ship complication
Re: Top 5 - Money No Object
Those are all freaking sweet! I'm a movement guy first, so these are all badass to me. And I do have to say the reverso is just such a cool watch.matt.wu wrote: ↑Wed Feb 01, 2023 1:51 pmThe reason I like watches is for the innovation in complications, so my "money no object" choices reflect that for the most part. Re: Top 5 - Money No Object
Out of all of these watches, that Blancpain Air Command Flyback Chrono limited edition is the only one that is making me question how much I could sell my children for...
It takes the top spot from my previous grail, the Breguet Type XXI
