Momentum Sea Quartz 30 Magnum thoughts

Post by toxicavenger » Thu Feb 09, 2023 6:45 pm

I just got this in today. So far I am liking it. I have not checked out the lume yet. My only minor quibbles is it comes on some cheap ass quick release spring bars. They do not fill the strap hole completely so there is some movement. I cut out the qr's and installed regular spring bars. But the spring bar hole on the strap is larger than 2.0mm so it still has some play  . And 2.5mm is to thick. Kind of weird. Strap is really soft, Super surprised how soft it is. But it might end up on a BC 295.

I am digging the classic look of the watch. One of favorite case designs for sure. Hopefully the bezel movement breaks in soon.

Definitely worth the asking price imo.

Looks great T!

I haven’t ever had a strap with quick release bars. Do you trust them?

They come on the Hirsch Pure as well and the first thing I do is take them out and put in regular bars.

Looks like a nice addition to the collection Terry. The paddle hands definitely have that old school look!

I like it a lot. Congrats i do wish it didn’t come with those integrated spring bars but I’ll put my Zodiac tropic on it anyway.
Looking forward to getting mine

Absolutely not. I have seen some nicer quality ones but they are not super common. So I will pass on them.

Brice after a day of wearing it the strap isn't for me. The tail won't stay in the keepers and the movement in the spring bars are annoying. But I really like the watch.

It isn't a show stopper, so waiting isn't a big deal. But it will be a cool grab and go.

Mike they have been around a long time. They make one of the better affordable pieces in the watch game imo. That link you posted looks great!

The company is actually St. Moritz dba Momentum Watches. They are a local (to me) company, based out of Vancouver. The staff there are great, I pop in all the time - excellent customer service. Simon and his brother owned Chronosport back in the day. :fro:

Yeah, very nice Terry ! :salute: 8-) A MAGNIFICENT Momentum congrats here !!!

And you know I was thinking sir, that a watch is really pretty impressive
when the only real drawback is the spring bars. That is really saying
saying something because it’s actually separate from the watch itself,
and can be remedied as you already did. And the bezel definitely is
something that will move better over time, so that’s not a big issue
either. ;) ..So basically you are left with a great looking watch that
does everything it is supposed to which is make you smile, and also
tell you the time, all while looking ultra cool doing it.

I don’t think you could ask for a nicer looking watch sir. It’s a real
no holds barred, tour de force of coolness. :) AND it’s so reasonably
priced at the end of the day, which is yet another plus here Terry !

I love that.

it's not identical to anything else out there... which is a huge box tick for me.

Spring bars? If that's all that's an issue... then you got a good one.

Wear it in good health. Lovely watch.

Mine arrived today. I like it, but there’s a crack in the bezel insert. I emailed them. Let’s see how the CS is.

I hope so. I’m not surprised it was damaged considering how it was packaged.

Do you know if it was shipped from Vancouver, BC or from Utah Chris? I picked mine up, they sized the bracelet and gave me an extra strap. I've known the guys there for decades, let me know if you want me to chat with them...odd that they would have packed it poorly!
