New box, new SOTC

Post by gwells » Fri Jun 02, 2023 4:25 pm

getting everything into that new machinist chest made me decide to do an SOTC. i regret now taking all the pics on that green felt, so not my best photos, but i'm too lazy to do it all again :).

Starting with the regular rotation.

Polar PO 8500 (stormtrooper)

PADI turtle on a crafter blue.

newest addition, Nomos Club Dunkel

Halios Seaforth Gen 2 Pastel Blue

Sinn 556i

occasional wear watches, but not going anywhere.

Junghans Meister Handwound, one of my two dress watches.
Image

my grandfather's retirement watch, an omega deville. my dad wore it for nearly 20 years before he passed and it came to me.
Image

Not sure what i'll do with this, won it in a rasmus auction yesterday for $15.
Zodiac Sea Dragon quartz. it was filthy, lightly cleaned up. not running, need to pull off the back and see if a battery fixes it.

Might be on the block

Sinn U1T. Might want to convert this to a U50, since the size is most of why i don't wear it often
Image

watches i oughtta sell

Ventus Mori brass
Image

Orient Mako, the uncommon yellow
Image

Steinhart Ocean GMT
Image

Magrette Moana Pacific rose gold (on a really nice custom Gunny strap)

Fun and varied stable!
Love that blue /white Zodiac! (I'm a sucker for anything blue ) Hope a new battery gets it up and running.
What's Rasmus?

Dibs on the Magrette Moana Pacific, always wanted to try one and my wife loves Rose Gold. ;)

Spent the morning organizing a the watch boxes myself replacing and ordering batteries, swapping out straps. Looking at selling off some I never wear or have duplicates of to turn into some new golf clubs.

thanks. we'll chat about the magrette :).

rasmus.com. it's an auction site that auctions, well, damn near anything. i've seen planes, buses, musical instruments, art, tools, you name it. i've been watching auctions there for the last 4-5 months. first time i got a watch (actually, 6 watches, but 4 of them were random fashion women's dive watches and one was a fake women's cartier tank). the watches were $15 (including buyer's premium). i missed out on a zodiac seawolf when i was stuck in a meeting and forgot to check at the end. :(

before that, i got a display table (powder coated steel, stainless shelf, butcher block top) from a wine shop for $35, a really nice 9x12 indian wool rung for $0.26 (bargain of the year), a dock for my work computer, and some driftwood masks (my wife collects masks) for $10.

generally i don't buy anything that doesn't feel like a bargain. occasionally they have a preview and you can go look at them ahead of time, but lots of times you're just buying off of pictures and a description.

Whoa awesome Greg, that is one incredibly impressive collection ! :excited: :salute:

By the way, I like the green felt because it is classic looking, plus helps
show off the watches, and is probably very comfortable for the watches. :)
Honestly, you have so many stand out watches too that it’s amazing.
To the point where any watch you wear on any given day is a genuine
centerpiece. From your grandad’s and dad’d Deville,to Doxa, vintage
Zodiacs, and even watches you are looking to let go like the beautiful
Bronze Ventus. You have some extraordinary taste, and one incredible
collection !

Holy cow, thanks a bunch for sharing it with us !!!
