Seiko Service
A buddy is looking to rebuild his seiko that was built up
By IWW - he wore this extensively operationally as an SF
18-D and later contractor do it has a lot of sentimental value .
Any recommendations on servicing . It’s a quartz diver .

Re: Seiko Service
Why not send it back to Jack for refurb?
Re: Seiko Service
I will only send my old Seikos to John Sachs for now on.
Can 100% vouch for him.
He made my 77 golden tuna perfect. He completely took down the quartz movement and cleaned/serviced it.

Re: Seiko Service
good to know. i have a seiko that may need to go in for service, and if he's in NoVA, i can just drop off/pick up.
Re: Seiko Service
My experience with them a few years ago was terrible.
Kept the watch forever, zero communication, job was poorly done (vintage Heuer, they scratched the dial and the hand came back with a piece of lime missing)
Re: Seiko Service
The best experience I've had with my vintage Seiko's is Daniel Blair of the Blair Watch Project. Absolutely phenomenal work and a true professional. I've used him twice and will use him again. Quick turnaround(days once accepted)and will ask you to send the watch when he's ready vs sending it in and waiting for months or even years before it's being worked on.

Good choice. He took less than two weeks on mine.Nomadz wrote:Sent a friend to Jack who did a less than stellar job .

I honestly have zero complaints, read the thread he posted and you can see the level of detail. He took pics and sent them to me regularly.

lol … “them”? Jack identifies as male as he has a penis and if you ever talk to him he would remind you of an offshore sailor.Baffo wrote:My experience with them a few years ago was terrible.

I like Jack a lot, and he has helped me with plenty of projects. But after my experience with Sachs and the level of detail he has it blew me away.
Sachs is well versed with vintage Seiko but he may not be great with newer or ETA. But he did just adjust my MKii with an ETA… he had the watch one day and shipped it the next.

Re: Seiko Service
I just sent my Tuna to Seiko and they were full of shit, so I sourced the parts and sent it to Jack. I’ll report back on the result.

This almost makes me want to kiss you.
Edit: in the European greeting way, not the Ben - Rest Area way.

I too, would highly recommend John Sach. He did an incredible job on my Seiko 6139-6002. Communications were outstanding. He is well known/highly respected in the Seiko community.BBK357 wrote:I will only send my old Seikos to John Sachs for now on.

I have used Jack many times, not just with Seikos, and never had a problem. I’m not his apologist, but I know that he had a rough patch a few years ago and that may have affected some of the work. I believe he’s back on track now - I recently entrusted an EZM 1 to him with outstanding results.

Oh yeah, the EZM1 that you will be selling me for $1600! That is awesome!namor wrote:I have used Jack many times, not just with Seikos, and never had a problem. Re: Seiko Service
There's a guy in PA with a great reputation. His name escapes me at the moment, but hopefully this post will jog someone else's memory. I think he has an Italian surname.

I’ve had him do a couple,of my watches, and he’s outstanding. But he won’t do vintage .
Re: Seiko Service
That's the guy! I didn't realize he doesn't service vintage pieces.abuemily wrote: ↑Mon Aug 21, 2023 5:05 pmhttps://www.watchdoctor.biz/

Unless something has changed e also won't work on anything that that uses Sellita movements. He says they are "asian" movements. True story.Selym wrote: ↑Mon Aug 21, 2023 5:18 pmThat's the guy! Well, given how popular that movement manufacturer has become, this attitude is certainly going to limit his business.toxicavenger wrote: ↑Mon Aug 21, 2023 6:36 pmUnless something has changed e also won't work on anything that that uses Sellita movements.
