H.G.P Monnin Diver

Supposedly in partnership with Monnin, Wolbrook has revived the old French brand H.G.P. and brought back their Monnin case diver.

“Assembled in France” but still Chinese made parts and a basic Seiko motor.

I’d prefer a CWC.

Boy oh boy, that couldn’t be cooler Todd. :salute: :headbang:

The watch looks fantastic and seems as if it is built like a tank.
With a wonderful classic style meeting up with a bracelet style
I don’t think I have ever seen before. :o It’s like beads of rice,
but there is a different shape or design going on. Wow, just wow
what a watch !

Thank you so so much for sharing the news !!!

Congrats - the face looks a lot like my old 844/5 TAG Heuer. I like the tapered lugs too. Loos sweet, especially on the jubilee.

Those rally tropic straps look pretty sweet too. Looks like a rounded lug end too.

This one. I already have a Wolbrook tropic the same color as the one on the left for it plus black one.
The faux patina worries me not knowing how it’ll really look.

I kinda regret not going mecaquartz for a nice grab and go.

I had the old Zodiac red dot with the same Monnin 42 case as the tag and always regretted selling it. And the old Tags are just overpriced. This will be great.

Yeap that’s the idea. A modern watch with that old Monnin 42 style case that tag and zodiac uses among others.

The mecaquartz is tempting for $230. Are they otherwise identical?

Good catch Chris!

Looks like the same case, and they say it’s Monin too. The Mecaquartz is also no-date!

That movement is like what’s in my Unimatic, and was also used in some Smiths pieces. It’s Seiko and the seconds hand sweeps. Only negative is 2-year battery life, but for the price I think this the one I’d get.

is this the same exact case that's in the Magnum PI watch?
I would think so

They brag about regulating the movements but + - 15 seconds sounds like standard seiko to me

I do like them

Another reason to go quartz. It’s also only $230 on Tropic and $265 on bracelet, while the pre-order sale is on.

This Seiko movement has a sweeping seconds hand, so no worries about it hitting off the markers.

$265 on bracelet
That's the one I got

There is of course a high probability it won't stick, but I figure it should be an easy flip.
My momentum Sea quartz lasted 12 hours on WUS

I like the aluminum bezel insert. The sapphire insert in the Momentum was less than impressive.

If the bezel lines up and isn’t too loose, this will be a steal at two-fiddy.

Just noticed that the brand may struggle in Hispanic areas of the world
H.G.P. probably reminds any hispano hablante of the words

Hijo (de la)
Gran
Puta

It could also turn into something cool like Pulp Fictions
Bad motherfucker

I just thought of it as initials, like CWC.

I ordered the Mecaquartz on bracelet

It’s tough to find a BOR bracelet that fits an 8+ inch wrist and this one does (at least on paper)

Also like the no-date. Hoping it’s a great beater.

prefer the vintage style to the usual quartz Seikos
