White Speedmaster
Re: White Speedmaster
So cool Jeff, we can never have enough Speedmaster, or Moonwatches.
It’s actually amazing that Omega haven’t had a white version that was
available for years now, but it’s sure great to see now.
Thanks very very much for the out of this world news !!!

Very nice, will have to have to wait a few years to before picking up a used one.

Re: White Speedmaster
I've gotten myself to calm down.
I've moved on from "expensive watches"; finding I can do pretty well around $3,000 and below,
but I really like this version of the Speedmaster.
I figured I could sell some watches to put towards the cost, but would have to move out the more expensive watches.
Thinking of what I have, I figured the Sinn Classic 12 would be a big help.
Then I realized I like the Sinn more than the Speedmaster.
So, I'm good.

I like it! I’ll probably end up with one at some point in time.

Re: White Speedmaster
I think the current Speedy in Black and White still represents a good value compared to a Daytona. Not the value it once was, but with the new case/bracelet and movement improvements it is a better daily wearer than older versions.DocHollidayDDS wrote: ↑Wed Mar 06, 2024 8:56 amYep. As with anything shiny and new, if you want to be the first kid on the block to own something, you're going to pay full price.

A video is up. While I like it fine, it doesn’t make me want to get in line just yet.

Thanks for posting the video, Ed; not as impressive in the video as the pictures.hoppyjr wrote: ↑Thu Mar 07, 2024 8:38 amA video is up. While I like it fine, it doesn’t make me want to get in line just yet.

It might look better if he took the plastic off of the watch.hoppyjr wrote: ↑Thu Mar 07, 2024 8:38 amA video is up. While I like it fine, it doesn’t make me want to get in line just yet.

Re: White Speedmaster
Loved the pictures but something isn’t coming across in the video. The white is so dominant and it’s like the black indices of the sundials don’t pop enough. There needs to be a hit more contrast maybe?

Re: White Speedmaster
The build quality is vastly higher on a Daytona. I own both. The finishing of the case, bracelet, and clasp is MUCH MUCH MUCH better on the Daytona. The handset is better finished. The dial is much nicer.DocHollidayDDS wrote: ↑Tue Mar 05, 2024 4:01 pmAbout the only things the Daytona offers (besides the absurd wait list at Rolex ADs) is a smaller overall size...

Re: White Speedmaster
I’ve owned both as well, so I actually know as much as you do about the subject. Sure, the Rolex is nicer under a 10x loupe than the Omega, but the Daytona isn’t $20-30k nicer overall than a Speedy Pro…period.JP Chestnut wrote: ↑Fri Mar 08, 2024 4:57 pmThe build quality is vastly higher on a Daytona. And I highly doubt you’ve seen the lacquer dial on the new white Speedy, so you’ve got absolutely no idea how nice it is or isn’t.
Re: White Speedmaster
I disagree with your enthusiastic hyperbole on finishing (referring to the new 3861) but the dials are definitely apples and oranges in the aesthetic. The Moonwatch has stuck with it's original 60's Mid-Mod aesthetic of modern simplicity and a simple printed dial, while the Daytona has gone a very different direction with raised/polished elements a general large amount of bling. I think they are different designs for different buyers. New white speedy certainly moves the Speedy closer to the Rolex in aesthetic but watches like the Zenith Chronomaster are a better comparison.JP Chestnut wrote: ↑Fri Mar 08, 2024 4:57 pmThe build quality is vastly higher on a Daytona.
