There are no mistakes,
Only happy accidents.
I admit I’m all over the place when I’m looking for a new watch. Anyway, I ordered a an Aquastar Model 60, thinking I wanted a nice, simple 37mm skin diver style watch. The box arrived yesterday from Aquastar, I open it up, and it’s the wrong watch, not what I ordered.
What they sent me was
Five seconds of “Crap, it’s the wrong damn watch!”, followed by “Holy moly! That thing is truly lovely! I’m keeping it.”
Not being a complete barbarian, I contacted Synchron and let them know about the mixup and that I wanted to keep the Deepstar. They came back with a very modest and more than fair request for additional payment to cover part of the price difference between the 60 and the Deepstar, which I’ve happily paid.

If you put a large switch in some cave somewhere, with a sign on it saying 'End-of-the-World Switch. PLEASE DO NOT TOUCH', the paint wouldn't even have time to dry.

Agree with you. It is lovely.

Sweet watch. Congrats.

It’s supposed to be the French Navy’s version of a no-deco table. Probably includes allowances for wine and a couple Gauloises.

Re: There are no mistakes,
Love that model. What a nice surprise.
When that was released I really wanted the blue dial on bracelet. Should have bought it

Re: There are no mistakes,
When I ordered the 60, I had been on the chat on their website because I had a question about the movement. They offered me a discount code good for 24 hours at 15% off. You might want to see what they’ll do. Also, see if there’s a package deal, they have one on the 60 with bracelet and two straps as a bundle for the same price as the watch alone.

Re: There are no mistakes,
At least the inner ring has a normal dive bezel. I had the silver version, and it is indeed a very nice watch.
Re: There are no mistakes,
Those are very nice.
Frankly, Syncron had some nerve asking for any additional money, modest or not. It was their error and you didn’t need to contact them, so they should have simply thanked you for the notification and told you to enjoy the watch.

Re: There are no mistakes,
I agree. I'm amazed they asked for additional payment. Unless they offered to send a postage paid return box? I dunno. It's really odd.

Re: There are no mistakes,
They offered a post paid return box to swap watches and send the one I originally ordered. I contacted them about the error, and I’m the one who asked about keeping the Deepstar. True, I didn’t have to contact them at all once I decided to keep the watch, but it didn’t feel right to me. Given what I originally paid, and what they asked for, it still worked out to a pretty deep discount on the Deepstar, so I’m happy. To me, it’s the same as speaking up when I pay for something with a $10, and get change back for a $20.

Re: There are no mistakes,
I’m also a fan of honesty, but it was their error and they should have told you to keep it no extra charge. That’s what a good business does.Henryj wrote:They offered a post paid return box to swap watches and send the one I originally ordered. Either way, I’m glad you’re happy with it.

He can feel smug knowing he has more class than Synchron. You can't put a price on that.
