Laser engraved guitars
Laser engraved guitars
it's turning into a "thing" for me. a buddy (guitar player in an old band and a good friend) started building kit guitars just for fun (to begin). building, selling at cost. simple tele builds, mostly. but has an eye out to step up quality and cost (and profit) over time and go from a few hundred to $1k plus.
anyway, i've been engraving them for him. here are a few I've done so far. couple speculative, a few commissions. One more on the boards to order (Don Julio tequila) and two spec (TNT high explosives and a pattern i haven't figured out to do with copper powder).
started with the Maximo guitar, which he built for my buddy and business partner that started Maximo Mezcal. Just finished the final piece on this, which isn't on the guitar yet. where i spent way too much time engraving the pick guard.
and the pickguard that hopefully will get to Chris this week to go on and finish it.
Next up, a couple of other "booze" related guitars. The first was a speculative one that Chris wanted to make. And the guy liked it so much he ordered two more for his whisky drinking friends. Waiting for final pics of Woodford Reserve. but JD is done. Start with Jamison's.
then JD.
and finally, a spec guitar with the Rt 66 sign on it.

Those are pretty damn cool. Love the engraved bridge and knob cover on the first one.

thanks, gents. it's been a fun little side job to do. and a little extra cash never hurts (although chris actually gave me cash and i don't know wtf i'm gonna do with it for a while since i'm not going out anywhere and USAA doesn't exactly have a branch to deposit cash).
