Recommend me a sports sedan
Re: Recommend me a sports sedan
I've just never thought Lexus got it right with their comps to BMW or Mercedes. Perfect example is the failed GS.
They're doing well with the IS, and of course, the RX. The GS was highly underrated and the LS is an extraordinary vehicle, but wouldn't you really prefer an S class?
People buy Lexus for reasons and people buy BMW for other reasons.

I’d say the E90M3, but go a few years older (2013) and get an aftermarket warranty. The DCT is excellent.
I’m ~99% picking up an E90M3 coupe with the performance package and Akrapovic exhaust this coming week.

I think apt of that perception comes from the older Alfas.Bradystraps wrote: ↑Fri Dec 03, 2021 7:18 amAlfa reliability concerns me a bit. Not great reviews compared to BMW, Audi, Benz, Lexus, Infiniti etc.
From what I have seen (reading all about the Alfas over the two years I have had mine, reliability seems pretty much up there with other comparable vehicles.

When the Giulia was released the press cars had major issues. I think Car and Drivers broke down numerous times. Sounds like the issues were worked out in production but the damage was done for a brand that already had a bad reputation for reliability in America.DoctorC wrote: ↑Fri Dec 03, 2021 9:01 pmI think apt of that perception comes from the older Alfas.Bradystraps wrote: ↑Fri Dec 03, 2021 7:18 amAlfa reliability concerns me a bit. I recommend against buying a 170k mile E46 ZHP and attempting to make it your daily driver
I'm a long time BMW guy fwiw. For my $50k, I'd get the newest used M3 I could find CPO. My dark horse selection would be a Charger Scat Pack (I know I know, but they sound SOOOO good); or a Cayenne/Macan S (or GTS?), again with a warranty of some kind.

When I owned my Stelvio it had plenty of issues come up. It also loved to throw check engine lights and idle very rough after sitting for a few days. The techs said it was a gas issue but I only put top tier gas in it.dnslater wrote:When the Giulia was released the press cars had major issues. I think Car and Drivers broke down numerous times. Overall, I was impressed with how the Stelvio drove but I would take my wife’s X3 any day over it.

Is this thread dead? What did you get? Did you consider the Golf R. Although it’s a hot hatch - it’s got just about if not more room inside than the small Audi’s and other cars, AND it a heck of a car that’s a HOOT to drive.

A BMW M440i all the way
Re: Recommend me a sports sedan
I've been a BMW guy long enough to reminisce about when their model naming structure made sense
Re: Recommend me a sports sedan
If I were in the market, and I had the bucks to pay cash, I'd be tempted by the AMG E 53 Sedan.
