Brands Hatch GP trackday highlights

Post by andy tims » Fri Jun 24, 2022 5:36 am

2 short vids from yesterday in the Exige

The first is from session 2 when the previously soaking wet track was drying. I'm on Avon ZZR's which are serious track tyres, with no radial grooves. The bit at the end round Surtees was 2 separate laps, not a repeat of just 1 incident

2nd is dry track highlights. The guy in the powder blue car at the end was a complete twat. Several people complained about him & he disappeared mid afternoon. I assume he was asked to leave the day.

I think I love the sound of the engine more than anything else.
Thanks for sharing

Great's video's as usual. So do you run the same tires all the time or swap out depending on conditions, and how far do you live from the track?

Cheers all.

For the Exige, I have until recently just used Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2s, which for road tyres are really impressive on track, but last year I picked up a 2nd set of wheels and this year got some Avon ZZRs. I fitted the “track wheels” for the 2nd time for Brands Hatch. The ZZRs coped OK with the damp but would have been hopeless if there had been and standing water as they have no radial grooves to shift water. They offer better dry grip. I’m getting used to them still but will be able to corner faster and brake later.

Brands is one of the closer tracks at 65 miles away. Most I go to are 130 to 170 miles away.
