We’ve been getting peacock free for like 2 years now.
Some kind of glitch that we obviously won’t alert them to.

No, I absolutely didnt need to comment - but, I did. I was having fun, but I guess I’ve used up my fun tokens. Sorry if it offended you.hoppyjr wrote:Clearly I did not, but you absolutely needed to comment.Wario406 wrote:You just did…hoppyjr wrote:Nobody here will judge your new lifestyle choices.

i'm looking at getting an antenna for local channels, making some individual streaming service decisions, and ditching directv sreaming. i don't have patience for all the "negotiating by holding customers hostage" that's going on with the big streamers/cable.
we've discovered we watch the free roku channels more and more, and directv keeps getting more expensive.

I guess I should have mentioned that I only added it to watch KC Chiefs game tomorrow night.
Re: Not Thrilled, But Just...
These streaming services increasing their rates and charging more to avoid commercials sucks!

Yeah dropped cable/satellite a little over a year ago now.gwells wrote:i'm looking at getting an antenna for local channels, making some individual streaming service decisions, and ditching directv sreaming. i don't have patience for all the "negotiating by holding customers hostage" that's going on with the big streamers/cable.

We have Netflix., Peacock, Hulu, Paramount+, and Apple. Those are the paid ones but Apple is included in my Apple one subscription and Hulu I get free with my cell provider. Peacock we get for free too, but that’s a glitch.
But we watch a lot of the free ones too-Tubi, Plex, Freevee and all the others.

i'll reiterate that Roku is a big part of why we'd consider it. they have so much programming on their free live TV. i need to build the spreadsheet and decide exactly which services we'd want/need to cover most of what we'd lose on DTV.
oh, i totally got why you were doing it. just to make it worse, tho, if you live in Cleveland, you can't watch the Browns playoff game if you have DTV because the company that owns the local channel is in dispute with DTV and they're not broadcasting it. i paid for a month of Paramount to watch the last two commanders games for the same reason (local CBS not available on DTV). i probably shouldn't have, the team is so awful i knew they were gonna get crushed in both games.mattcantwin wrote: ↑Fri Jan 12, 2024 12:52 pmI guess I should have mentioned that I only added it to watch KC Chiefs game tomorrow night.

How about simple YouTube. It’s is unwatchable lately due to violent diarrhea of commercials. How much more money fn Google needs. Greed

As entertaining as it would be to watch everyone in KC freeze their butts off, I ain't gonna feed the greed.
No, it's not Tourettes.
Re: Not Thrilled, But Just...
FWIW, it's probably cheaper to buy a ticket to the game than it is to subscribe to peacock for a month.

We went with an HD antenna only about four years ago. And have Netflix and Amazon prime pretty much constantly, and then add on other streaming services occasionally to binge watch a few shows and cancel them. It saved us a ton of money.gwells wrote:i'm looking at getting an antenna for local channels, making some individual streaming service decisions, and ditching directv sreaming. i don't have patience for all the "negotiating by holding customers hostage" that's going on with the big streamers/cable.
