New bike day

Post by andy tims » Fri Jun 14, 2024 10:45 pm

New (to me) bike day today. The M1000R is staying, but I've succumbed to a bit of pier pressure & pick this up later this morning.

2021 bike in very good condition, only 7,000 miles, I owner.

It's the low chassis / low seat option. I have not issues riding or stopping with just the ball of one foot down and unless the road camber is favourable, or there is a handy kerb, but getting it on & off the stand were a struggle so the stand has been modified.

I really enjoyed the test ride I had last week.

It's going on the French Tour with 2 GS riding mates at the end of June.

Can't wait.

Congrats Andy - as a former GS owner I’ll tell you be prepared for your other bike to get lonely. They are so competent and so comfortable I found myself riding mine a lot more than I ever anticipated. They’re mile munchers and they just run and run. The handling is awesome too.

Beautiful bike. A riding buddy of mine has an older 1200GS and loves it.

Awesome. Hard to beat a big adventure bike for all-around riding.

I've passed 100,000 km on my Super Tenere, still love the big beast :)

I wish they made this for midgets. My dream bike years ago was the Paris Dakar.

That’s a beauty. My next bike will definitely be a big ADV of some sort. New BMW prices have gotten silly, though. Used is definitely the right choice.

I understand you, T. When I was a kid the retired neighbor bought a Goldwing. Tipped it out in less-than developed Indiana, somewhere near New Haven, and was stuck under it until a lady mail carrier lifted it. He sold it and bought a Honda Helix scooter.

Congrats on the bike!! I have a GSA and have loved it, but don’t take it off road enough. So I’m actually thinking of selling it for an RT. Terry, if you’re interested… it is factory lowered and easy to get on and off. Also, for everyone on an adventure bike, stand on the peg using it as a step getting on and off. The kickstand can handle the weight. Trust me, it’s the only way I’ve ever jumped on my adventure bikes. Image
